Depends what you mean by bracket. My HMMWV had the plate with the hole and the support on the floor but not the strapping. The fire extinguisher I bought was for Marine / DOT applications and came with a new strapping/bracket which I mounted to the existing holes in the plate.
I just checked...
I use a 5lbs 2.5lbs Halotron.. if I do have to use it, I don't want that powder everywhere.. Have the same one in my Jeep as well. (Switched from the powder ABC to halotron after I watched someone at a car show put out a _small_ engine fire, and more or less fill their intake with powder...)...
I would assume it's a similar amount. Like the hydraulic clutch it just bind the fan 1:1 with the engine. So if the engine is spinning 2000 rpms, the fan is going 2000 RPMs. If the blade (or number of blades) is different that would affect overall airflow, but I would have to assume the Hummer...
Correct, the viscous clutch works based on temp of the clutch unit itself. When it gets hot, it activates, when it cools down it free wheels. So no hydraulic pump/fluid/valve involved. This is the same approach used on a LOT of 1980's/1990's cars (before electronic fans).
Also verify the wire markers are correct. On a new LED lamp I got, the wire marker was wrong for two of the three wires.. something like that could cause odd results on an incandescent as well.
FYI Goodyear MT are no longer back ordered, any good tire shop should be able to call goodyear and order a set. (I just put 4 brand new Goodyear MTs with DOT '2022' date codes (20th week of 2022).
Is this the 2-man or 4-man bulkhead?
Appears to be in the parts manual - this is the front (2-man) bulkhead, which I believe matches your picture - See TM-92320-280-24P-1.
Look for Figure 209 - Cargo Bulkhead and Mounting Hardware. Bracket is #11.. the bolt into the floor is #15, with #14 and...
Looks good. Do you have any idea if the vehicle would have originally been painted in pieces (green or tan or...)? Or was it assembled with some factory color and sprayed as a (nearly) completed vehicle by the military?
Local shop is working with me. Dropped it off today, and they'll look it over the in the next couple days. I gave the shop a USB drive w/ all the HMMWV service manuals on it, and they said they were happy with me buying the parts so we're sure everything is "right" compared to a civilian...
I did the basics.. fan is working properly. The upper radiator hose gets hot as the engine warms (so the thermostat appears to opening, and there is enough flow.)
The big symptom is the exhaust is white, and the liquid from it is "sticky" when cooled on the tail pipe.
No, but I put 2 gallons of fresh coolant in when it overheated. So I don't think it's had time to turn brown. (Maybe only 2 hours of use since then, mostly at idle.)
Since I've got no plans to turbo (or supercharge) the engine, what would be the purpose for headstuds?
I've only put them on high compression/boosted engines in the past.
Exhaust is 'sticky' and I pull the dip stick and I can see vapor while it's running. So at this point, I'm convinced it's gone.
(I'll edit the original post with the parts I've got on my list.)
I've got a 6.5L GEP in my HMMWV. Last Saturday I dove 2 miles into town, 2 miles back and right when I pulled into the driveway she started puking coolant all over the ground. By the time I realized what had happened, the temp gauge when from 210 to 240+. I shut it down right away, but now...
I used rapco on mine. But I did lay down a full green layer over the whole vehicle first, then came back and painted the camo pattern per the manual. (The previous camo on this thing was way off the pattern in the manual, which is why I did all of the effort to repaint it.)
Definitely heavier...
As previously said WD-40 or similar, it's probably stuck. But also be sure to turn it when it's NOT engaged, as there is no tension on the cable (vs the upright position). I usually pull it a small bit up then spin it, as necessary.
I just got the summit shafts (all 4) as backups. I figure it's cheap insurance, but maybe that is all it is. Have something I can put on temporarily, but then order the AMG part for a real fix?
Any idea why it failed? Lost the boot/grease? Not enough grease internally for lubrication? etc?
Shill bidding is illegal in most states, and these are auctions running with an auctioneers license. I would STRONGLY suggest people involved in bidding (and losing) filing a complaint in the state the auction was held in. States Attorney Generals offices really don't like shill bidding, and...
