I stand corrected about the M1008 trailer plug voltage, maybe it was the HMMWVs I was thinking of. And the photo I showed is for a military trailer to a civy truck not the other way around.
The CUCV trucks, 1008 and above I believe have 24V at the trailer plugs and the M1009s have 12 volt wiring. I would just go on epay and purchase a Military to civilian trailer adapter plug, they sell several types. This way is a simple plug & Play and saves a lot of unnecessary rewiring that...
Thanks for the advise. I tried the led light conversion back in 2011 before they were popular. Maybe Napa wasn't offering the electronic flashers back then.
I hope the flasher works out for you. I couldn't get my turn signals to work at all when I installed my led bulbs. Didn't change the flasher because our local Napa says it wont work for my application.
Volt meter is your friend. The M1009 was built with a 24Volt starting system and 24volt glow plug system. If PO rewired, you are basically on your own to determine what was altered or deleted.
I have had dealings with Samantha several times when I pickup surplus for the county I work for. I have found her to be the type that will not go out of her way to help nor make any effort to "think outside of the box". As for complaining to GP about her offering rolling stock to a GL buyer, it...
Take the throttle peddle and arm off and bend it in a vise. I added floor covering and then a thick rubber mat and I have the same issue. I decided as I get older I don't have to go as fast anymore so I left mine alone.
I agree with doghead, get an A2 with the surge brakes. With the amount of load they can handle you will appreciate it. They stop so smooth that you may at times forget you have it behind you. And I'll bet you can get one for the same price if not lower than an A1. I got mine at FT Drum in 2012...
Your truck is acting as designed. When cold the glow plugs cycle for a short period, that's why you get fluctuation in the meter, Anywhere in the green is fine but red or yellow? you may have problems.
I test them while their in the block with a simple 1 wire test light clipped to the positive battery post. Touch the test light probe on the terminal end of the glow plug and if it lights your good to go. If it doesn't than its burned out and not making any heat.
For future thoughts, what could I expect to pay for the required brackets/mounts/bows for the troop cover? Everything has been removed from mine so I'll have to start from scratch. I used to do auto and boat upholstery so the top itself isn't a big deal.
I thought you were buying the truck to...
Unless you plan on plowing commercially for 4 months a year like a lot of guys do up north here. I would put a smaller lighter cheaper plow on. Not knowing what part of Virginia your in, how often do you need a plow anyways?
Five of my old lines cracked on the pump end. The old diesel mechanic that worked on it said the rubber clamps were missing and the vibration over time tends to crack the ends by the nuts. He also said not to bend them much when installing as it will destroy the glass like coating inside the...
I wish I checked with you swiss 3 years ago for the injector line set. It took me three mouths and four venders before I found all eight to replace mine. Great price.
