That lock mode locks the front and rear differentials together. Nothing more. That means that the left and right wheel at each differential can still lose power if you aren't using BTM, but each differential will have exactly 50% of the transmission's power going to it.
I'm with papakb. I really want to know if I can use VIC-3 headsets on mil radios that would normally use an H-250 handset. I have an RT-1694 that I'd love to use off of my HMMWV without carrying a boatload of handsets and headsets.
It's also worth noting that I have a VIC-3 system I'm...
Holy smokes, I need to buy a lottery ticket! I didnt have a battery charger until this morning, so when I was doing a visual inspection, I unseated every module, inspected it for an obvious physical defect, and reseated it.
I just got my batteries charged today and tried powering on my...
If you need more substantial weight capacity OR need frequent highway cruising speeds OR need water fording, the M1123 will be your best bet. It has the highest weight capacity of the readily available HMMWVs, the 4-speed trans, and should have the "internal plumbing" for a water fording kit...
Correct, it's a steel braided line. To put it together, you'll also need ferrules and a crimping tool. Menards will sell you a whole kit, found near their chain that you can buy by-the-foot. I'm sure plenty of other stores have an abundance of it, too. I'm going to guess that it's about 10...
You didn't just happen to be the guy that won that PRC-117 on eBay Sunday night, were you? If so, I almost threw in my bid on that listing, but decided against it since it wasn't one of the newer models [I don't even know if the newer ones are cleared for surplus] and I have my hands full with...
For giggles, I hooked up my QP1800 inverter to see how it worked. I have to say, it's impressive how fast heating coils can bring a power system to its knees. We have a rapid water boiler (for hot chocolate, tea, etc) rated at 1650W, which when I kicked it on, I thought it was going to stall...
I happen to have the same problem. My A1 came with a push button release parking brake lever and there's actually a pretty awesome hole dented into the dash because of it. A simple brace to limit its travel would fix the problem quite well, but that was one of things I've decided I won't worry...
No toggle and the J7 port looks the same as mine. Looks like it's the newer hardware. You also just helped throw a hypothesis I had running: I thought that all black ICE boxes were the old versions and the green ones were the newer ones.
The PRC-138 is officially mine. Payment was sent last night, shipping label created this morning...anxiously pressing F5 on the tracker page until I get a delivery ETA.
Now that I'm not paranoid that somebody will steal the deal out from me and I've already shared the other one with one person...
Since those are W2K recovery discs, you definitely have an earlier version. I think the MSD V1 used Win 2K. Most prevelant since I've been looking around have been the v2 with Win XP. Out of curiousity, does your ICE Adapter Box have the toggle switch on it to switch between NATO plug power...
Luckily, you're not stuck with that thing forever. If you ever replace your PCB/EESS/S3, you'll have fresh, new threads. Did you ever get a new harness/connector on the way?
Very nice! I actually have been wanting to do the same thing with a 250-class dual-sport bike. I was going to go all-out and drop in the blackout lights and was going to rack it up on an airlift bumper on my HMMWV for the "scout work" when off-roading. Really sharp work you've done.
On M1009
It appears that I just scored a PRC-138. It's throwing a couple of BITE codes, but I got ahold of a service manual and I think I can handle them. As it is, the radio seems to go through all functions, receives A-OK, and transmits at very low power. Once I have the radio in my hands, I'll post...
Well, notice that I said car... My HMMWV has nothing yet but the built-in cable. It greatest security feature is that the transmission is not yet operational. A creative individual would realize that reverse DOES work, and could steal my HMMWV in reverse if they first pushed it away from the...
It looks like it's the M1151, M1152, M1165, and M1167 that would be turbo from the get-go. I'm not sure on the 12K...but I think that's everything that's an A2 series. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Same for the 4L80E: it's everything A2 series and up, plus some of the earlier...
Well dang, I want that pair of plier for its intended purpose. That looks fantastic! It probably works wonders for stubborn rubber shell connectors, too.
I leave my car running on short gas station hop outs all the time here in Indy! ...but the key comes with me while it runs, the doors lock, and the car won't go into gear without the key present...
But yeah, that cable wheel lock? I don't trust it at all. I had a guy try to steal my bike...
