That one looks like an MRC-108 and would definitetly have needed the genset. I guess the real question is is this just for looks or do you plan on operating the radio(s)? If you really want to impress the 106 set is a good one but don't overlook big sets like the TRC-75 or the GRC-193 or going...
Dockrocker, do you understand battery ratings? A battery rated at 700 Amp hours should be able to supply that current for that time period. Lower the current and you lengthen the hours. ie 350 amps for 2 hours etc. This is all from the batteries and has nothing to do with the alternators...
These latches are made by a company called Southco here: https://www.southco.com/en-us/37-o
Southco makes quite a few of the latches commonly found on the HMMWV, you should check out their catalog.
Sielman SA is a company located in Volos, Greece that manufactures all types of defense equipment. They are a major European defense contractor to both the US and NATO forces. That alternator is just a duplicate of the Leece-Neville 60 amp AMA1501 unit so repair parts will be available from...
I just did this job on a friends HMMWV and there's no good way to push the fuel pump actuator pin back up into the block without removing the mounting plate. The gaskets are readily available and fit 1955 thru 1995 GM engines and only cost a few bucks so bite the bullet and remove the plate. I...
The function of the time delay module is to give you a 20 second of free fan blade rotation during fording operations. If you quickly floor the accelerator pedal the linkage hits a switch on the injector pump that triggers the TDM to allow the fan to rotate freely. That way when the blades...
JoAnn got a call from Woody at KOA today (2/16) that any sites reserved by our group that did not have deposits on them have been taken off of the MVCC listing and will be available to the public on a first come, first serve basis. Any reservations made from this point forward will not be made...
Bigfan, the time delay module is the small rectangular box with the wires coming out of it and the Kysor Cadillac solenoid valve is the thing with the gold end. When the valve is disengaged by either unplugging the solenoid or the TDM it causes the fan clutch to engage. This is the fail safe...
A word of caution playing with the alternator. That large stud on the output terminal is connected directly to the batteries, do not pass GO, do not collect $200. If you remove the small black cover that covers it and short it out your going to have your own 4th of July right there in the...
Normal cycling of the cooling system allows it to run up to 230 degrees and then turns the fan on until it cools down to around 180 degrees. The 16# radiator cap allows it to operate above 212 degrees without boiling and as Ken stated, with the inaccuracy of the military gauges your 240 figure...
I've never taken an MV speedometer apart but the way most speedos work is the cable turns a rotating magnet and that motion is coupled into the gauge itself and drives both the needle and the odometer. There's a clutch inside that prevents the odometer from running backwards so you can't reduce...
My experience with 6TL batteries from 3 different sources has been worse than miserable. Supposedly they have extra space beneath the plate so if there's any flaking they won't short out. HA! Didn't help any of the 3 sets from failing within less than 30 months. And because these are...
Remove the speedo and then use a variable speed drill with a piece of old speedo cable or a squared off drill bit in it and run the speedo and see how it behaves. This sounds like the speedometer is shot to me.
When I first got my HMMWV I had the same problem and what I found was the 90 degree gearbox wasn't tightening down squarely onto the TC. That little angular offset would cause the pin to shear after a couple days of driving.
This is one of the reasons I carry one of the first responder knives with the seat belt cutter in it any time I go out for a ride. Cheap insurance that might have prevented their loss.
The object in the back looks like a 40mm ammo can, probably there for storage.
