I've tried this one out and it's a real option and it's paid for. It's an A2 but I've got a good lead on an A1 that I'm considering modding and I too think the Cummins' 855 can be made into a beast.
I've only sold a few trucks that I've bought from auction, I've recovered quite a few more. I've never let a truck leave my yard whether privately owned prior to me seeing it or recovered without making sure the owner or new owner knew all of the things to see about the truck to ensure safe...
Aside from the better stock torque number's and CTIS (which is mostly disabled on the trucks that have it), is the turbocharged 8.3 much of a reason to go with an A2. I ask because I've got a chance to get 1 but not both. I've been doing some reading and I'm pretty sure if I turbo the NHC-250...
Ruppster, you may be right but I just enjoy working on old iron. Zack has a background on turning wrench's, he just hadn't turned the BIG one's yet. I don't think I showed him anything that he couldn't figure out, I've just done it a time or two and he was on a timeline getting back to the...
Well, it turns out that the truck is deadlined for the moment about an hour a way for the transfer case noise. It's in safe hands but I'll probably learn soon what it takes to either change a transfer out OR pull a transfer, tear it down, AND reinstall it. Well, Zack learned some new stuff...
More pics, in first pic from left to right, Kenny, ZackSS, and Sandcobra164 (Joseph). Other pics, I've never seen a GPS in a Deuce and he powered it off of a 12 volt jump pack along with a phone charger and IPOD. Pretty much ready to go and hopefully he'll enjoy the ride home and not have any...
Zack is now Augusta bound. We replaced a leaking wheel cylinder on the right front, dropped the front driveshaft due to a clunking sound in the transfer as the front input is turned (air shift, not engaged), and repacked the bearings on 1 axle as it was put together without putting the RTV dam...
Well, ya'll beat me out on the M35A2 W/W at Rucker a year and a half ago.... My truck would like to meet it's cousin one day. Anyhow, Winches are nice to have and this truck has more than one!!!!
It's here!!!! I've been pretty busy lately but finally found time this afternoon to go and pick up Zack's new ride. Whistler turbo, runs fine but no brakes due to a leaking right front wheel cylinder. We'll be changing that tomorrow and hopefully sending this beast back to Augusta!!! Enjoy...
The military also has the most blown up engine's of any industry. Not so much talking about stuff blown up in combat. They have to stick to a budget which is coming ever so much under scrutiny. They also have to deal with 18 year old operators who don't have any concept of dry starts and over...
I read through your link cattlerepairman. I sure wish I could find the old PS articles so I could reference the post about not really worrying about it until it becomes a bad leak. Anyhow, I've read through quite a few posts about replacing head gaskets and I'm quite sure that it's not that...
The LVS is on it's way out. LVSR's are being fielded from Oshkosh. We DRMO'd most all of the unarmored cabs left over from uparmoring and have alot of LVS front and rear units in storage with no real plans to rebuild them. We actually just got our first LVSR back from theater today. Looks...
I've got all the LVS TM's on my computer at work, I'll get some CD's and burn them. Let me know your address in a PM and I'll send some up to ya. Of course, you'll have to screen who you send this info to but being a Staff NCO in the Marines, I'm sure you probably have got all of that figured...
Jeff know's that he's got my respect. In pic 4, I'm in it crouched on the ground holding onto the truck. Is he crazy? Perhaps but he's now done a long recovery and I hope I showed him 1 or 2 things about the old truck. I'm looking forward to trying to make it out there to do some rock...
Mine's leaking oil very slightly from the same spot. Call it a class 1 leak for the moment but it has stained the motor around the dataplate and it's obviously coming from between the head and the block. I suppose I'm looking at head gaskets if it gets worse. Mine also has the new style head...
I've not seen an NMCI computer lately that wouldn't burn a CD. The thumb drive restriction is just for actively connected to the network computers, not for stand alone's.
I've finally figured out some of the older folks in this forum. Ya'll buy and run these trucks because you had the chance to when the trucks and ya'll were in your prime. I had a nice trip back from Ft. Stewart today while driving my newly assigned M1089 FMTV Wrecker with less than 700 miles...
Diesel that's not burning completely is white to gray as well. Ever start a HMMWV with a bad glow plug controller? It'll billow white smoke until it starts and then some after, of course with a Diesel smell accompanying it. My bet is on the injectors in this case. I've got similar issues but...
I've been reading through airpack oiling threads. I got a chance to meet Phil2978 again today as he was picking up some Deuces out of Albany, GA. He was hooking up a line to activate the brakes on one of his new trucks behind his M109 that he drove up there. He showed me just how simple it is...
