    Slantback/helmet top/soft top differences

yes, the base trucks are essentially identical. In the year I've owned mine it's been a 2 door pickup, 2 door troop carrier, 2 door and 4 door helmet hard top (tall version) and currently a 2 door BEOD, with a lot of switching back and forth for events and such. installing a hard top takes a...

    Multimeter Readings

is this right at startup, or after it has been running for a few minutes? I know for my truck the needle bounces the first minute or two due to the glow plugs pulsing, then after that it settles down.

    Can you identify this part?

oh, on the inside. My guess is it's the bracket for mounting a display for the vehicle commander as part of the Driver's Vision Enhancer system. Most likely one pin is supposed to be in the center hole, then the other is for either the down position or the up/stowed position of the monitor.

    Can you identify this part?

Separate the numbers a little 01365 ASSY 09006P1210 and it comes up as a bracket of some type for the marine corp. That's all I could find, but from looking at it it looks like some type of mount for a fold down assembly, probably some type of antenna mount. Don't suppose you have any...

    No front end drive

So it sounds like you broke something. the most usual thing to break when you're having wheelspin and then hit the brakes (not saying you did) is one of the halfshafts, either the CV joint or the shaft itself. (once the wheel is spinning, that is a lot of weight for the shaft to deal with...

Generator to charge vehicles, Hummer Ford Tesla Volt

You are welcome. I don't actually know a huge amount about the military generators, but I make my living as a Generac Protector Series Technician, and work on plenty of home and commercial standby generators, so I tend to get asked about generators a lot.

Generator to charge vehicles, Hummer Ford Tesla Volt

okay, I did a couple edits to my earlier post to fix the bad information.

Generator to charge vehicles, Hummer Ford Tesla Volt

(did a few edits as people corrected me) part of this answer depends on what charger unit you are using. Then it depends on if the charger is 3 phase or single phase. If it's a single phase charger, going bigger than an MEP 003 or 803 won't do as much, because all the larger ones are 3 phase...

Wait light behaves normal but no amp draw and hard starting

have a helper with you when you try to start it, have them read the voltage at the batteries when you turn the switch and when it's cranking. You should see a voltage drop when the glow plugs come on, and another when you go to crank it. (poor man's load tester) If it drops below 20 volts...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I wasn't trying too hard. I was bottomed out on the sloped picture, but it backed right out no problem. I went over come logs on the beach as well, only had one where I had to use BTM to get over it, and that wasn't even being locked into 4WD.

    M998 A0 A1 A2?

The A1 designation didn't start until 1994, so your trucks wouldn't be labeled as such.

    AM General parts website

yes, A0 was made up. But then, so was everything else. At some point someone decided it was easier to call the previous generation "A0" rather than repeatedly saying "not A1" or "early version" Until WWII came along WWI was simply known as "the great war" or other such names. It wasn't until...

    AM General parts website

yes, the standard is "if it's too good to be true, it usually is" applies to this. You can also do searches about the website itself, you will find most of the scam sites have unusual names and have only been established for a couple months at most. I'll stick with the big names in the game...

3 windshield glass, an oil pressure gauge, and radiator cap. With the free shipping deal it came to about $140. I can't even get the glass locally for one piece for that (last quote I got was over $200 for one side) I did notice in my cart it's telling me that they don't have enough of some...

Mystery Dash Switch in 1986 M998

Some people don't like hearing it go back and forth between fan on and off due to the change in noise level, but other than that I don't see any reason.

    Helmet Top

certainly more weather proof than a soft top, and more secure, plus has some rooftop load capability (500 lbs for mine) Af for is it worth it, that is a personal opinion. I don't use my hard top (tall version) because I put an EOD body on my truck. The hard top is a little harder to change...

M1123 Front Seat Belt (Lap and Shoulder)

Mine had sand in them.I had the same type of issue, not worn but had enough sand/grit in them to keep them from working. Managed to clean one of them up without damaging the plastic retainer inside too much, but replaced the other. I checked my ebay history, part number I ordered the shoulder...

So the consensus seems that the AM General site is great for items you want to have on hand, but not so much for ones you need in a hurry.
