    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

I also use the Gillespe coatings 383 green from Rapco Parts 34094, looks to be the exact same can as what LITD gets from Army Jeep Parts. It's probably a decent match on such a pristine NOS unit, but a little off on "Used" machines due to the fading of the original CARC coating. Ends up a bit...

    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

Awesome score... I'm by no means an expert on oil, but I would be hesitant to run straight synthetic right from the start, not so much for the rings but more for the lifters and cam. They use hydraulic lifters / cams which normally you would use an oil with high zinc content to break in...

    Saving deeply discharged Optima 51R's

I grabbed a G7200 off the big on line auction yesterday as well... Got 5 Optima yellow top 51R's I want to work on recovering

    Fuel tank info MEP003

Unscrew it.... Probably tight but both of them are just screwed in to fittings that are soldered and riveted to the tank.

    Fuel tank info MEP003

Hello, Don't heat the threads, the fittings are riveted and soldered to the tank, you'll melt the solder out. I've always been able to get them unscrewed despite the rust. Sometimes they are pretty tight and need a few wacks with a dead blow hammer on the wrench, but they have always come out...

    Generator Painting and Stenciling

Hello everyone, Daybreak has asked me to start a new thread with this info so that it can be pointed to from a sticky for easy accessibility. I purchased a set of stencils that I had custom made by a place on-line called Custom Cut stencils. Attached are the proofs I used to purchase the...

    MEP-803A oil leak

There isn't a heck of a lot above the crank that can leak oil. Just the rocker covers and head gasket. Maybe try cleaning it good and get in there with a mirror and try to see the highest point where oil comes back. Do you think it could be coming from the rocker covers and running down the back...

    Mep-003a fuel filter help.

I have used both the Fram C1125PL ( perfect fit ) and the Wix / NAPA 3113 and the only thing I know is that the housing is made by Fram and the C1125PL fits perfect. I buy them from Rock Auto .com The Wix / Napa fit, but if the rod in the center of your canister still has the little 3 winged...

    MEP-803a Painting Project

Here are the files I used. There are 2 sheets. I believe the first sheet gives you what you need for an 803A , for an 802A you need to substitute the "Heavy objects" stencil from 3/4" to 1/2" because the top cover is smaller. I ended up ordering both so that I can stencil both machines, but...

    MEP-803a Painting Project

I purchased a set of stencils that I had custom made by a place on-line called Custom Cut stencils. ( I can probably dig up the proof layout they used for mine if anyone needs it ) They basically charge by the letter and can make stencils out of oil board as well as other plastic materials. It...

    MEP-803A Low Voltage

Great, thanks Guy. Sorry about possible confusion calling it Pin 1, It was Pin 7 and 8 I was thinking of, but pictured it backwards in my mind. I did some testing last night. I was getting 120V on the sense lines and seemed like 67 VAC? on the 7 &8 quad lines which seemed odd and 24V on pins 5...

    MEP-803A Low Voltage

Looks like I have a 400 hr. tier 2 reset 802A with the same "low AC output" issue. I get 240 on the meter while holding S1 in the crank position, but output drops off to about 56VAC ( 28V per leg ) when I release S1. The machine has the quad fuse mod, which tests good. I plan to work on this...

    voltage drop

Correct, but you only need to worry about the voltage dropping, the Hz will not change due to the cord size or length , only the voltage will drop. Hz is solely dependent on engine RPM and will only change when the engine speed changes.
  16. R

    voltage drop

How much are you looking to raise it? like 5-8 volts? What are you using for cordage? You can raise the voltage a bit to compensate, but if you're seeing more than about a 5 or 6 volt drop, you might have something else going on.

    mep-802a engine oil leak

Lucky it was just a shop rag! I was recently working on an 803A with the top cover and exhaust manifold off... at night, using my snap-on flashlight looking closely at the exhaust ports for signs of smoke, i had a lapse of attention and stuck the butt end of the flashlight and my pinky finger...

    MEP 831A Thoughts/Opinions

Hello, my personal opinion, with limited experience.... Dependable, Reliable, Overbuilt... No, No and No. Single cylinder, 3100-3600ish. rpm, inverter style with a poorly designed controller board... that will probably have a life expectancy in the 1500 hour range. Better than a gas generator...

    mep-802a engine oil leak

I second that motion. You have to clean it and see where the leak is coming from. It could be the ( orange ) push rod tube seals, side cover gasket, even the oil pressure sensor hose/fitting. No sense guessing. if it's the side cover, you can get just the gasket pretty cheap or I see an entire...

    Frequency meter erratic

They also make a blue digital Hz gage in the same small package size as your V / Current meters. I just bought some for about $7 each. You can also get cheap round analog 90mm gages on ebay from a place in china. Direct read Hz for $12 and 300V AC for about $6. They are pretty chincy plastic...
