I tend to prefer original, but even I plan to swap in a much newer GEP 6.5 and a 4L80E in mine. The steering box frame reinforcement and shackle flip make sense as well.
First picture is the hood anti-flyup catch that bolts to the front of the inner lip of the inside of the hood. The second is the spring catch that holds the hood shut.
