My scoop came in today. It has the Donaldson insignia on it, but I don't see any slits in the rear to allow the rain water to expel, as their write up says. According to their one-pager on this, they say the rain will collect on the back wall of the scoop and run down and drain out. I thought...
You may not have the isolator wired in correctly, the isolator may not be working correctly, or your $60 purchase could be a bum deal. Start by wiring the alternator up same as your buddy's truck, get the isolator out of the equation. See if it works. If so, then it is the isolator or the way...
Yes, he did say a company was donating such. Separately, when people are stranded on the roofs of their houses, it simply just comes down to being the right thing to do.
Thanks, but the guy who is a new member here and is selflessly using his truck as submarine to benefit others gets the kudos. I'm high and dry pounding keys on a laptop, going home to a dry bed at night.
I'd keep going for now as-is. All your driving is likely at very low speed, especially in the water. Water in the diffs really isn't going to hurt anything at low speeds and low loads. Even a lot of it, as long as it is mixing with the diff oil. Just keep going and change it out when you are...
SS55's alternator pictured above is one he purchased from me. It is a 130A rated 24v unit made for the European heavy truck market where most all on and off road heavy trucks are 24v (his tested @ 177A actual room temp output before shipping). Big bucks, not a nameless $89 unit from China...
I'm looking for a complete set of fiberglass M923/5 troop seats and headache + short (?) boards. Need to be straight as to accept cargo cover verticals correctly. PM me to finalize prior to bringing. I can offer trade/partials of 12v & 24v starters/alternators + cash/combo.

I don't think there is anything one could do with an empty truck to cause a healthy trans to run hot. Usually trailer towing will heat a trans. I'd go dollars to donuts that the temp sender or gauge is just not accurate. Our trans coolers are huge. On an empty truck, the trans temp should...
Get a block from 98 and an in-frame kit from internet for $1000 and have at it. You won't be able to refresh a diesel back to good health for any cheaper than that.
