Well let me put my 2 cents. I am sure DD will chime in as I believe he would know the production dates on what engines came about on what time frame. I have manuals for the 465 that are dated in he 60's so that would answer that to some degree.

YEP, bet it was ethanol.......been hearing that when it sits, the ethanol separates and then on the first start, it heads through the carb and is really bad for the seals. Since hearing about this, at the end of the year, I fill my tanks at the station here in town that is ethonol free...
I would certinly find a tank with baffles. When you said that, my eyes lit up big time. I do believe there is a thread on here from someone who's FD had a deuce that was non-baffled and the driver was killed. Even on rough terrain, with the most experienced driver, your asking for trouble.
