4BT was going to be my suggestion. The turbocharged versions put out good power. The only thing the 6.5 engine belongs in is the HMMWV and that is debatable.
Welcome, those are called model G8T. The rear axle is made by Timken. What happens with the brake drum is the brake fluid leaks out of the wheel cylinder and causes the shoes to stick to the drum. Lots of beating and prying will get things loose. You should have military data plates on the dash.
Y'all are killing me with this "parts truck" talk. That thing was $11660 after GP fees and $12600 after tax. Parts? It shows 4 miles which looks quite correct given how clean it is and no body wear or even radiator damage. The USMC cann'd the hood off that one because it was perfect. Two...
I think Memphis added the double frame. See it's bolted on? Factory would be rivets. See if Memphis still has those data plates, very important to operate the REB correctly or you will damage the transfer case.
It tells you that your truck started life exactly like the data plate says, a 1950 M34. Single rear wheels, 11.00-20 tires, and cargo bed with wheel wells. See the new snip i took of the serial number database, the lowest s/n of a M35 truck is 100422 for a 1952 truck, yours is 94926 which...
My 2 cents: This truck was set up by Memphis Equipment in the 1960's for a construction company to do some hard off highway work. The back of the frame angle cut indicates it had a dump bed. This truck would be a huge effort to build back as an original M34 mainly due to the frame issues...
I have never seen a deuce with a double frame like that. The "REB kit" was a way to manually control the automatic engagement of the front axle. That is one of the levers sticking up through the floor. The instruction data plate for the kit with 136 on it also mentions "Eager Beaver" which...
Yes the transmission is for a 2 1/2 ton truck. I don't think the air compressor is, it looks WWII. The tag with 136 on it indicates a Memphis Equipment REB transfer shift kit has been installed.
Where does the double frame start and end? On a M34 or M35, only the trapezoidal plate over...
