    M35 Standard Bumper Markings

A quick Google of Ft Benjamin Harrison shows the base was used solely as a the US Army Adjutant General School at that time. Typically schools would not have tactical vehicles.

    M38A1 MRC 83 100 amp system

The connector you are holding in your hand should have some heavy gauge wires coming out of it and one 12 ga wire, that is the excite wire.

ASR-85 Crash Boat burned up at Sacramento CA

Did you guys spot this in your doom scroll feed, news media described a "85 foot former military boat" caught fire and burned stubbornly and released hazmat on the Sacramento River. Sadly on closer examination of the photos, this is or was a 85' WWII crash rescue boat from WWII used to rescue...

    M38A1 MRC 83 100 amp system

The regulator plug will have one 12 GA wire, that is excite wire, you will probably need to splice that in with the wire that goes to the ignitor.

    M38A1 MRC 83 100 amp system

Your 100 Amp system is the early version without the aircraft type Cannon connectors right? Unless you are going for restoration perfection, I would lean towards upgrading to the later version with the Cannon connectors so you get get away from the selenium rectifier which is unreliable.

Need to know what these 60 amp alternators are and from what.

The 1960s Leece Nevelle is way more reliable than the newer Prestolite.

    Newbie

Looks great! Some hints: carry a spare ignition module with you at all times. Repack the front hubs when you get a chance. Hubs are a little stressed.

Battery Disconnect Light comes on...transmission goes into limp mode- only 5 gears

The 5.1 volts is why everything at the dash is dead. I don't think you blew anything up with your diagnostics. I think your symptoms point to an ever-weakening battery bank.

Battery Disconnect Light comes on...transmission goes into limp mode- only 5 gears

Lots of times on here people ASSURE us the batteries are good and then after days of back and forth, they end up NOT being good. Suggest you have them load tested before condemning expensive LBCDs etc.

M870A1 - Daytons, luv em or hate em..

Stunning photo! Ah now I understand what tractor you have, the 920s were replaced by the 916A1 and would be considered the prime mover of either trailer.

Battery Disconnect Light comes on...transmission goes into limp mode- only 5 gears

All the usual suspects. Start at the terminals on the LBCD under the spare tire, next the battery disconnect box alongside the battery box.

M870A1 - Daytons, luv em or hate em..

Not to be picky but the LET used the 172 trailer while the 920 used the 870. Although I am sure the various components got all mixed up in service.

    M920 rebuild mileage?

The rebuilds on these trucks occurred in the 2000s when these trucks were already 20 years old. It’s most likely that the speedometer was replaced at some point.
