That reminded me of some really scary looking spacers made for tractors. Basically two plates with multiple pieces of square tubing welded in between them. And yes, if memory serves me, they came in at least six inch, maybe even 8-inch.
But in this case, the inner plate would have to be further...
That's what I thought it was for. Aside from that the tank's shape doesn't lend itself to pressurization, it would require a bladder or something similar to be able to run an enclosed system. And if so, it couldn't be vented like the SEE's tanks are - and all other hydraulic systems I've seen...
Not that I've measured or tried, but it sure looks like it'd merely be a matter of removing the single wheel and bolting the duals on.
The only reason that I can see why it wouldn't work is if there isn't enough distance to the spring, which it sure looks like there is.
Keep in mind that while a...
One minor detail came to mind. The wheels I have are aluminum. That just wouldn't look right.
Guess I could put the aluminum rims on the inside and the black steel inners on the outside. Unless I have another set of wheels...gotta look.
I've been wondering how to cut the plastic off the barbs without leaving cuts and scratches, but leaving the plastic in place solves that issue.
Except, if the plastic is loose on the fitting, there could still be an air leak. I think I'll go rubber directly onto metal.
Ah, there's my problem. This one never did get painted after they serviced a bunch of things. Of course, in your case it may not be the CARC paint, or your added coat, but wax residue that seals things nicely. I might have to try that approach.
Thankfully I really don't need this one to...
I'm actually proud of myself for not having installed duals yet. Especially since I have a set.
Many, many other things that needs to get done, but now you reminded me of something I want to try, despite that it'll make it less practical. Thanks a lot, corelokt.
Yeah, technically the type I used should be better, but the hose did exactly what you said and opened up a bit.
Oh well, I might have to drop the tank next and practice some more with the ClampTite. Of course, I still haven't ruled out the O-ring I used for a gasket on the strainer.
Where do you think I got that idea from, peakbagger? You can see the clamp and hose still on the fuel line, to the left.
Either the ClampTite works better (even after my very first and crappy application of wire) or I butchered the initial attempt with the hose clamp and hose.
Not that I understand hydraulics, but I always thought that reservoirs are just that. Containers holding fluid. And none of mine have ever acted pressurized, or the sight glasses would've been history. I suppose that one would also have to plug the vents in order to pressurize them.
Gearing I'm...
There might be more to the story, including lots of boost, that we don't know about.
If noting else, by definition an inter cooler goes between two power adders (such as a turbo, then an inter cooler, then a blower), which is where the "inter" comes from.
In a single power adder application...
It should look and smell much like new ATF. If it looks brownish or smells somewhat burnt, it's toast.
I had a TH-350 spit ATF out once, and it caught fire. After discharging a fire extinguisher in the engine compartment I learned two things.
One, use Halon (or modern substitutes) not powder...
TH-400s are infamous for spitting out excess fluid. As Tinstar pointed out, check that what's left of the ATF is good.
If it is, and the level is still above "Min" on the dipstick, I wouldn't worry about it.
You may want to start carrying a fire extinguisher if it happens again, though.
Finally, all four tires installed. It would've been quicker had it not been for the 10-minute duty cycle of the (formerly) parts SEE. Gotta fix that air leak somewhere between the strainer and fuel tank, or put an electric pump in there for now. Primering with the hand pump is getting really...
What makes you think that I'll get the bugs worked out?!? Or learn how to post a video (if I can convince someone to take one)?
I can and will take photos of the carnage...hope that helps.
Today's adventure will be to find out if the (formerly) parts SEE starts. If it does, the new tires are...
Well, we'll see. I might break it the first time it's used. But the pins are 1-inch and the three pieces are very heavy so it may not be as weak as we both think.
One thing that puzzles me is that from what I've read, the thumb must be longer than the bucket, meaning that the bucket hits the...
Not even word of mouth, Ahab, but I'll have to pick up some rocks (not boulders, I hope) and move some brush around this spring. Equipped with a bad back, bad knees, and a hernia, I figured that 180 bucks and some welding could be a reasonable price/time to pay for being able to pick up said...
