    oA little ferret story

Whew - I was afraid I was going to see a bunch of sissy puke blue paint. Nice looking vehicle.

Hmmwv is so unique. But I wonder why a few things

I spent time as the S-3Air for an 9ID CAB-H Inf Bn (HMMWV), AS-3 of an Air Assault Bn, Co Cdr of an Air Asslt AT Co (HMMWV). NEVER did the idea of sticking a HMMWV inside a CH47 arise. Certainly no ones doctrine. I don't think could be done. Certainly not practical. Sling load, tandem...

Hmmwv is so unique. But I wonder why a few things

Old thread that popped up when searching "463L" I was in 9ID Mtz in spring 86. Still the "Experimental Test Bed" and was receiving the 1st big batches of M966/M998. None had grill guard (or spare tires). Not a problem at Yakina but we were tearing the heck out of those huge expensive hoods...

    MEP 803a Engine Sludged Up

Had an engineer acquaintance neighbor who was hired for an experimental/proof of concept project for a bio/cogen installation at a NE Iowa college dairy demonstration farm. About 15yr ago. He had a large pile of fed grant $ so installed a new good size genset. As I recall was over 200kw...

    M920 wheel and tire help

DOD still using 24" anywhere else? I don't think so. Our M911 but are 14.00x24" so certainly obsolete. Get the NSN for the tires to your state fed surplus. They may be able to get thru DOD surplus though I doubt any M920 (thus tires) are still in active use by DOD. If can find the tires...

    MEP 803a Engine Sludged Up

Looks like something some potheads would do. I'd think any self-respecting pothead would only be using offgrid solar. Nasty ole dino juice is just not prog.

    MEP-531a

Saw full kits with valve and base (at over $85) which don't need. Looking for a long term fix vs superglue patch. But if can't come up with the bowl may try patching it. Great little gensets. Shame the Army didn't make with the Hatz 1B30CS engine as they used on the new 150gpm pumps...

    MEP-531a

Need a BOWL, SEDIMENT part # 124064-55510 Have crack this spring. I assume had water in it that froze over the winter. Anyone have an idea where to find one?

    How quiet Mil genset

When a "smart" S3 type has no idea what is in the MTOE, what it will do/features. And too dumb to revise the unit SOPs. (Or a unit full of NCOs that are to passive aggressive to ask questions/act.)

    How quiet Mil genset

Long ago I read a car collector SOP. - Buy house with large backyard (for the chiluns). Buy a old Bus or similar and park at the far end of the backyard and park your accumulation on the far side of the bus. As needed, move the bus closer to the house. 99 out of 100 women won't walk out...

    How quiet Mil genset

Have MEP002, 003, 004 w/hush, 007 w/enclosure, 531, 831 and 803. The 004, 007 not bad for noise, the 803s is great. But none will run on NG or LPG.

    How quiet Mil genset

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. I guess I should have considered with looking for ancient lost knowledge to look in a book of ancient knowledge. vs the TM for MEP003. Bought a portable genset that I can run on LP (7kw w/Briggs). A damn chicom engine that apparently is rated as pretty...

    How quiet Mil genset

I vaguely recall, from 30+yr ago, a Army manual that had techniques for emplacing on the battlefield a small genset to quiet it. As I recall, tech was dig and place in a shallow hole with sandbags around it. Any idea what manual would have such info?

South Korean M35's doing the job.

The skypilot is older than I. Remember watching it with my dad when young. Likely on TV. Several clips on youtube. And yes the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the cab (I'm surprised that GM made such 70yrs ago. Good spot on the bed (looks like a '60). I'm going to have to watch with...

Shop Set Contact Maintenance Truck (Heavy) (CMTH)

DOD/DRMS incompetence has improperly allowed all manner of equipment out thru the reutilization channels. New, classified, etc. so don't count on it.

    MEP preparedness

Yadda yadda yadda - It's now NOT 2019. The Earth's axis perhaps has shifted and reality intrudes.

South Korean M35's doing the job.

Anyone remember to front jump seats as in the John Wayne movie HATARI? I'd guess in the ROK Army "volunteers" get to use the seats to spot mines/IEDs.
