Absolutely. And, the 8.3 can be turned up in both regards of power and RPM. I don't think the 250 engine likes going higher RPM than stock. Lots of big heavy parts swinging around inside of there, waiting to get out.
Agreed, and disagree with "It will kill your batteries". This went around and around before, and if I remember correctly, there were no known cases of it killing batteries. Even the military does it as factory wiring.
Not offended at all. Very OK to give general ranges and example.
Mine had old paint in the river pic. New paint job below.
It is a time vs risk vs money thing, like anything else. You can get a 923/5 for $2300 from auction, and that $7700 you saved will go a long way on upgrades, repairs...
Just run your 12V appliances off of one of the batteries. Convert trailer to 12-24V LED bulbs as others have said. Done. They make a trailer light converter box also if you want to be able to pull any 12V trailer. I bought one, it was kind of pricy and bulky but it works perfectly. If I...
Great experience of both above without having to buy either! Yes, 250 sounds like a semi truck, 8.3 sounds like a school bus (because they both really are).
I bought mine from a member here, tractors0130. I'd recommend anybody to buy from him. He had it in tip-top shape when he sold it...
All 939 beds are drop-side (I think?). 923/5/x base is 10 wheeler, A1 is taller 48" singles, A2 brings CTIS and half sized turbo motor. NHC 250 is 4mpg, 6CTA8.3 is 10mpg. A2 can roll 67mph stock out of the box. Here is my A2 wincher going for a walk:
You know how some people can say one single thing that may change the way you think? I pulled up to a stop light one time, and there was a lifted diesel F-350 stopped next to us, and he had the dangling chain nuts thing going on. Well, the girl in my passenger seat simply said "Had to buy them...
The military 6CTA8.3 does not use a P7100 pump. It uses an MW pump, which pump section looks nearly the same (in-line configuration), and the fueling rate is adjusted in nearly the same manner.
If you want low end power, the NHC 250 is it, and start by changing the fuel button and add the...
No, not yet. That is why I am waiting on mods, so I can actually quantify each with an EGT and timed acceleration runs. Hope to have base EGT data by end of this week, but not tonight, as a local member invited like everybody over for free BBQ ribs and beer. So, only fishing stories tonight...
It looks good. If it does not say "Delco Remy" on the rear of it, it is a Chinese clone, hence the price. A genuine Delco unit would probably cost $250 reman, and $400 new. The Chinese ones are not reman, even though they are selling them labeled so. They are new. A handful of people here...
Yes, we do have the part number, but it is secret. We can't tell you.

It is better to solder the terminals on with a propane torch and then a few layers of shrink tubing. It is...
Were you able to find anything more definitive or different? Not having an easy way to pressurize fuel to 300-375psi, I'd much rather try to use the dial indicator method, if possible. Can you find any reference to that, in relation to the ESN I provided, or even something generic for the 8.3...
From a diagram perspective, no, it is just the line and a single bolt retaining clamp. The difficult part will be physically pulling the injector, it corrodes into the head pocket. Some here have made tools to do so and they worked ok. Search the threads, you'll find it. Start soaking it...
