Adding to above, minimum speed limits exist for a reason. If you willingly enter a freeway knowing your vehicle can not achieve the minimum, and somebody rear ends you, you could be standing in court with a judge asking you why you got on the freeway, when you knew the minimum posted speed...
Laid the pipes against the bumper just for a visual, yes, the wrong way. That is just how they came out of the car. Each is 12' long. Towbar will slip over the ends of these, and that should complete the crane frame once the feet are pinned on. Next pic I'm going to tie it back with a 30'...
Picked up the welded knuckles/tubes. They beveled both surfaces then filled it with weld and said it won't come apart. Fabulous what a dozen bagels gets.
A 15 year old engine should be able to turn over just by a socket on the alternator nut via the belts. People here do it all the time, and even with the 855.
A hydro locked engine should rotate one way but not the other when locked up. As a simpler check, you could crank down a rocker arm...
There is a clause in the Michigan historical plate code that says you are permitted to drive the vehicle after any repair event performed to the vehicle. This is a pretty deliberate loop hole to allow daily driving of such vehicles.
I'm in MI and run a GVW plate on my 925A2. It costs...
So I bought some cut off forged tow bar knuckle ends to weld onto these 12' tow bar extension tubes. Dropped those off this morning at a pipe welding facility, who is welding them on in exchange for morning bagels. I could have done it, but I'd consider myself a hobby level welder, and I have...
That all sounds good. It should be fine and last a decent amount of time. Did he say what amperage it was rated at and how long the warranty was? If yours works out well and he wants more business, others here may want to use him.
Added a self contained 24v amber strobe to the rear for safety if on road side at night. Other holes are for clear LED backup/work lights, and reverse alarm. Drilling steel with a 4" hole saw is not the easiest task...
Yep. Good info here. Just make a new lower bracket, it is only a straight piece of metal with one end bolted to the water pump bolt. Gravy job. Yes, the pulley just sandwiches between the nut and fan. Few second zip of an impact gun, don't insert anything into the alternator to hold the...
I doubt it. You can see he spent nearly $1000 just in parts, and that is at a discount on almost all components. So then add a profit margin in there to make it worth doing so, and you are up over $1000. Example, how much would you pay to switch yours to solenoid valves, and how many channels...
You #$&^ you beat me to it! I looked into doing this with manifold mounted valves. Looks like you did it with valves alone ( single station valve/manifolds)? What size are they, D05?
398010 is supposedly the number in the automotive aftermarket. Slight modification required, so do a search and check the detail of what you would need to do to get it to work, looks easy though. People have pics and results posted. I just woke up and not energetic enough yet to find the...
What is referred to as the Delco conversion are people selling/buying/using Chinese clones of Delco alternators. Some of them recently have arrived not functioning, over-voltage, and pulley problems. Others have worked, but only very shortly. Also one of the distributors, Spider Marine...
Yes. At least one person here added an air cylinder to the hydro valve and remotes it that way. I am converting my cable driven valves to 24v doc solenoid valves with switches inside the cab, outside, and wireless remote control. Won't be cheap, but will be a big upgrade on the hydro system...
Where does this info come from? The hydro winch on my 925A2 zipped all 23,000lbs of my truck out no problem, after being stuck in 4' of mud. Why would you want a glove box full of shear pins when instead you can have a pressure relief valve and not break anything when the load limit is reached?
How can it hit at that much of a horizontal angle if it is an un-propelled free drop bomb, and has no wings to carry it horizontally, just tiny tail fins to keep it oriented vertically?
Sounds like your alternator is out to lunch. Best first and simple check is to leave it all together, start the engine (jump it or whatever), and put a digital volt gauge at the slave port. Inside is +, outside is -. You should have greater than 25.6V with the truck running. Closer to 28v or...
