Unless you have a truck that was modified in some manner, the M52s do not have an air-operated front axle. Instead, the front axle is engaged by means of a sprag clutch...the rear wheels slip a certain percentage and the front wheels engage. Someone more knowledgeable can probably interject to...
Does anyone have any for sale that are in nice shape? If you are coming to Aberdeen, I will give you some $$$ for bringing it to the show if you are able to do so. Please let me know what you have and how much you are asking.
Thanks!
BFR: Sorry for the delay in responding. I believe that additional weight in the front would help. However, I was unsure of what to add. I don't have a winch on my truck and figured the additional weight would help, especially considering that it sticks out a bit further, too. In the end, I...
RE: GMA cover
I buy from GMA, but I also buy from dealers like John Winslow. John sells his brand new tops for $200. While I'd rather save the $17 if I could wait, sometimes you need a top immediately! I'd check with MILITARYRESTORATION to see what he's got.
Kenny, I have always like the M809 series of trucks. I was out of them for a little while, but I can't pass up a good deal! The M814s are close in condition to the rebuilt M818s that have been coming out recently like ARMADA's M818...except that both of my trucks have a couple of DRMO war...
RE: Re: RE: Brand new FMTV spotted
I don't particularly like the look of them. They look too European as David and others have pointed out (no offense intended to Europeans or their truck enthusiasts...just that don't look like traditional American military trucks). As discussed elsewhere...
I was told yesterday that GL will not be selling any more trucks out of Letterkenny for at least the foreseeable future. All trucks will be sold out of Ft. Meade, MD. Not sure if this is true or not, but it could be with all of the trucks popping up at Ft. Meade...and none really at Letterkenny.
Thanks for the compliments on the truck. The truck runs really well. The interesting thing is, my speedo said I was doing 50-53 and the tach read 2000-2100 the whole time. It must be off a little bit. The 5th wheel towing device works great. It is easy to hook up...we were hooked up to the...
OK...it was me. I was coming back from Letterkenny after an unproductive day. I had intended to pick up one of my M814s. Boy...the trucks are sweet. The 5th wheel towing device had no problem picking up the truck, but the length forced too much weight down onto the 5th wheel and basically...
JUSTSOMEGUY: I wish you were closer...I'd try to bother you to help me track down my CTIS problems! :D I think the problem he is going to have is, first, finding all of the CTIS stuff and, second, the cost. I called a place in GA...can't recall the name of the place, but I believe it was down...
He did really well with that truck. Let him know his spare is flat...at least it looks that way to me. The last thing you want is to find out that you've got a flat spare when you need it!
RE: Re: RE: Deuce Seat Shock
In my opinion, the older style box seat is actually more comfortable. If you can't find the shock, swap out the seat. Most guys don't want the box seat and you can probably get one really cheaply. I don't go so far as swap out the "air-ride" seats, but I also...
I have been renting space at a farm for the last nine years. While I feel fortunate to have found this space, I really want my trucks right where I live. If I want to work on something for 30 minutes, I want to be able to walk out back and have at it. That means that I can't deal with HOAs...
I have never torn into the CTIS system to see what was not working. Basically, the CTIS stuff was missing on my truck so we replaced it. I wil add that the in-cab computer sometimes fails. There is also a main valve behind the shift tower that also often goes bad.
