Silent Wings (GLIDER) Museum, Lubbock, Texas

Last weekend (11/15/2014), Dianna and I were in Lubbock, Texas and took the time to visit the City of Lubbock's SILENT WINGS MUSEUM. The Museum is dedicated to preserving the history of the WWII Glider Pilot Training Program that was located in and around the City of Lubbock...

That's a sweet container trailer. What does the DATE PLATE say it is... Mxxx, Rating, etc.???

    German STORCH of WWII

That's quite a comment.... Especially since the author omitted any and all reference to the fact that the commandeered aircraft were FREE, readily available when allied equipment was hard to requisition, functional and operational, and its use as captured hardware would further demoralize the...

    M109A3 with fuel problems

Every time I have replaced the spark plugs on our multi-fuel Deuce I have also invested in parts and time to change to brand new ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor, condenser and points. :doh:rofl:grd: Number of times I've actually DONE this: ZERO ! I've never found any of those parts...

    Houston Veterans Day Parade

Thank you for posting up those pics. Your sniper's nest was a perfect vantage point for spectating. Thank you for your service. I am reminded of just how "desperately I NEED" an APC (M113 Armored Personnel Carrier).

    Sold One of the Deuces

Looks like I fell right into your trap ! I figured that that mode of multi-hauling was what you meant. :D

    Sold One of the Deuces

Your suggestion seems somewhat shortsighted. "In this case" if you had the front axle of the towed tractor over the 5th wheel of the toter, then you'd be DRAGGING THE TOWED TRUCK'S FRAME on the highway. Just my observation. You might want to look more closely at the picture yourself...

    Toys for Tots 2014 Events

I've been quite busy lately, and hence a little slow in posting the Toys-For-Tots entry pic in the San Angelo, TX Veterans Parade which was held on Saturday 11/08/2014 this year. This year, we entered our Deuce along with a recently acquired Santa's Sleigh float. The gentleman who, for 14...

    M35A2 or A3 or 5 Ton?

Deuces are "Short Bed", unless you get an M36 with is "extended bed". 5-Ton's are "Long Bed", unless you get one of the "extended bed" models. I don't think anyone mentioned that tidbit yet.

    General Purpose bomb identification.

As I recall, practice bombs are typically painted a "baby blue" color.

    Chemical Storage @ Your Motorpool

Yes, Corrosives are inherently NASTY ! ! ! I once dealt with an estate where the widow had stored all her deceased husband firearms under her bed wrapped in an old bedspread. The real problem arose when her evaporative air conditioner blew super-humid air on her during the hot summer night of...
