Thanks! Looks like the info I was looking for.
The 105 has good ride height and is super simple. I can lengthen or add tube steel as necessary. Rims will be interchangeable for emergencies.

I have been carefully considering what needs to be done. I have already purchased the entire turbo charging unit from a 6.5 L. I'm going to have to get the exhaust manifold gaskets for a 6.2 L and use them as templates to make a custom exhaust manifold that will lead up to and meet with a 6.5...
I do not see a listing for types of military trailers (unless Iotally missed it). I would like to use something with abundant ground clearance to allow me to camp out of bounds.
I would like to build something with a camper compartment that is 10 foot long by at least 6.5 feet wide. I would...
Yeah, I noticed that. LOL. I also noticed the large speakers right next to the baby seat. Baby's gonna need a hearing aide and tinnitus treatments from engine AND speakers.
I really appreciate the pictures though! Now I know what to look for as far as seat base and rim/bolt design.
[EDIT -...
Until this moment I had no idea something like this existed. Will the Cricut device cut a negative from paper that I can use with spray-paint to leave a positive image on the HMMWV? I prefer paint over vinyl lettering, (personal preference - no offense intended).
Best,
T
I'm not sure what you mean by "hot rodded", but this type of military vehicle required readily and easily accessible parts that would be reliable. "Hot rod" parts might have been cool on movies like Tucker, but in actuality, hot rod parts have a shorter longevity and as such require more...
I have been following this thread, and I am glad things worked out. That being said, in a thread that I started about my slantback, I quoted a corollary of Murphy's law:
"It works better if you plug it in".
Super happy that you're vehicle is driving however according to other posters in other...
Understood. It will take months if not years to get this vehicle exactly where I want it. In the meantime, I see where I can use steel cables at all 4 corners to lock down the seat position so that it is safe in a crash. I agree with your concerned about the seat and I was planning on...
Yeah, I agree. Mine is a 1987 so after 30 years I'm gonna cut my USA military a tad of slack . I agree that grounds are frequently a problem so I plan to reground via kit in stickies AND also via braided grounds on various engine and dash components. Dielectric grease also to prevent...
Not sure about deep fording kit... Some peices there, others missing. ie.: Has tranny and engine dipsticks for deep fording but lacks oil cover and tranny fluid cover and power steering water resistant units. I would love deep fording but that is for the future.
Yeah, I'm an old Pontiac GTO...
Loose wires tightenned and now front lights operate, but I also needed to learn some basics about how to operate switch properly. Read a few posts and voila... LET THERE BE LIGHT (and flashers/blinkers). Still need to learn about the switch though. Years of college, medical school and residency...
BravoJ... Thanks!
Action... Yeah, and I will eventually have to undo all that but for now electrics are priority. Thanks.
JAGWAH... Thanks and good luck with yours! Cool screen-name.
juanprado... Agreed. I think I might start with just looking to see if anything was attached to the electrical...
You could always go back into active combat situations. :shrugs:
Or, I guess you could contact the actors guild and ask if they need military trucks as props.
What ideas are you looking for. I grew up in a beach town and I have no idea where you could possibly go with this idea unless you want...
Either lift the front or drop the back are options to level any vehicle.
My post included instructions for both options.
Sorry if you felt mislead.
Best,

the best way is to either [EDIT-] SHIM the front with polyurethane mounts or cut the risks brings, which involves a bit of work and simultaneous equations.
shimming the front just requires getting a rubber or polyurethane mount of the height required.
Correcting the rear involves measuring...
Well, she arrived. I was told she was a restored model, but I think that was a little lipstick (although she is NOT a pig).
The good:
Straight frame, good body, X-doors that are intact, three good tires and one very acceptable tire.
Engine sounds great and pulls hard...6.2L
Tranny seems OK but...
Retired War Horses is on point.
I have personally worked on vehicles with gobs of horsepower and torque (including my old 1967 heavily modified GTO) and the TH400 is awesome. (I procured an MV41 tranny and not an MV40 though.) Easily modified and worked on and improved. Well understood by all...
