I did some work as a theater carpenter years ago (non-union). We called those things "tee-nuts". They are real handy for quick assembly/disassembly (things like theater sets and all).
That reminds me of the story of the guy who accidentally fell off of the top of the Empire State Building.
Some people in the building had their windows open that day, and as he dropped past they reported hearing him say:
" Well, so far so good!"
That really bites; sorry for the disaster.
But the way you wrote that was funny (I mean for me, but not for you). It was the progression; it went rapidly from:
- Mild problem to
- Total destruction.
Sounds like you got a LOT done today.
3M makes a real inexpensive swab you can use in the space of 5 seconds to confirm lead. It's like $10 for a pack of 3 if I remember right. Almost any general hardware or paint supply store will probably carry them. Here's a link:

Welcome from here in Virginia, TOBASH.
You're in the right spot for your questions. But a good first step is scanning all the threads in the HMMWV forum, and then reading all the posts in those threads that might apply to you. It's kind of a school around here, and the teachers appreciate it...
It looks to work like a champ; nice work! I'm guessing the frame is aluminum then:
- How does it work being converted from a sliding door to a swinging door; can you notice any issue at all?
It dawned on me how stupid my question was:
- In a missle age, talking about anti-aircraft guns is like talking small arms and mentioning muskets.:doh:
Great to have your posts again, USSR.
A question: What does the "airborne" mean for this vehicle?
Is it designed to be parachuted into action?
Is it fielding an anti-aircraft gun?
The tubing looked to me like it was 1/2" (O.D.), which is what threw me off. I would figure 1/4" tubing for any brake lines. What's the diameter of that tubing?
