Friction builds heat.....If you run a tube type tire underinflated or flat you run the risk of setting it on fire. I used to see this a lot when I was driving back in the 70's and most tires had tubes.
If a tube type tire is flat or leaking profusely you need to change it immediatly or risk...
I am still on "Hot Standby" for the youngun......not sure what the major malfunction is but the daughter-in-law is going back to the doc tomorrow.....have to wait to find out if the kid is holding out to be the first baby born in 2012.
If I make the trip to Cincy it will be toward the end of...
You can run vaious mixtures depending on temp. I use the gas to thin the mixture out and add diesel for more heat.
When you add Used Motor Oil to gasoline you are basically replacing heavy oil that is removed during the refining process......you are making a sort of diesel fuel.
Everybody...
Just remember....anything with a yaller motor (CAT) in it is going to be expensive to fix.
That is my only gripe with them.....well that and they are butt ugly.
Keep in mind that an M936 weighs around 36,000 pounds....you are going to be competing with the scrappers for all of the trucks regardless of running condition.
Very few of them will sell below scrap value.
There is also the core value of engines/transmissions/winches/radiators. etc, and the...
There seems to be a huge number of CUCV's coming out lately....I have heard it has a lot to do with funding for shipment to reginal sales sites (rumor control).
Price depends a lot on how many of what kind of vehicle is in the same sales event (GL sales).
The more available at one site the...
And you would be correct Sir.
Running alternative fuels and tax issues go hand in hand.
My position is that anything I put in the tank other than taxed fuel is an "additive" to extend the fuel milage of my purchased (and taxed) fuel.
Off road fuel is dyed to assist law enforcement in...
When I was in Germany in the mid-70's I put over 50K miles on a deuce (I drove for the Mess Hall and Supply) and I had an 8-track tape player in the glove box and speakers set up like yours. I also went to every rock concert I could get tickets for (saw the Who, Rolling Stones, Jethro Tull. etc)...
SS member csmdavis has that covered. He works at Shelby and can do recoveries, inspections and load outs.
Shelby has been rebuilding MV's for many years. My last unit had a brigade stationed there and I spent a lot of time down there starting in 1995. There are thousands of trucks out there in...
I have two of the wooden handle ones (Korean War vintage) left.
I know one member that used the one he bought for a cot.
FYI....they fit well between the sides of a M105 trailer.
You should be happy with the Optimas.....unless it is real, real cold you should have enough CCA to fire the deuce off.
Even my M915 fires right off with two batteries.
You may find some used ones in decent condition but I would use new ones if you can afford it.
They can be a PITA to remove and I'd hate to put a used on in just to have to replace it.
You can get them from Memphis Equipment or one of the other usual suspects.
I have also heard that the...
