Go to John Deere and get a can of multi purpose spray lube and soak those fittings several times. This product is a penetrating and lubricating oil combined. It costs about $8 for a tall can. I use it on the farm all the time.
Both atf and power steering fluid are similar as hydraulic fluid. However atf has detergents and friction modifiers added that the automatic transmission requires.

It should not have jelled on 24 oz. mixed in prior to the problem. Sounds like fuel problem. Get some Power Service 911 and fill a new filter with it and put it on. Prime it and try that. May have to charge batteries before it will start.
