Need a 4500 lb. Vehicle Transported from IN to CA - Can anyone help?

Secure a snatch block to the front of the trailer with a chain. Fasten a cable to the tank then run it thru the block and get along side the trailer with another truck or tractor and pull it on. Same as a winch. Just make sure all components are rated for the load.

    question on 1031 pricing ..

If I didn't want to sell it I would not put any price on it. If he makes an offer it is just an offer. You still don't have to sell.

    m1009 occasional scary steering

All of the square body 4x4's that I have driven or worked on came from GM with the hardened non greaseable joints installed on the front axle shafts. I am confident GM felt this was the way to go. I have an 80 model K20 that I drove over 300,000 miles and had a lot of hard pulls and still has...

    Owner Survey---Fuel Additives

I use power service diesel kleen at recommended rates in summer and power service arctic formula in the winter time. The cetane boost is real and all my engines run quitter because of the added lubricity. They also start better in the winter time. It is good for the injectors too. Not only do I...

    m1009 occasional scary steering

Just bite the bullet and do it all while you're in there. Then better driving!

    m1009 occasional scary steering

These u joints need to be the spicer hardened kind without grease zerts. They will last a lot long than the cheap ones with grease zerts.

    My New(to me) Oshkosh M1070

Be careful about running over those little turtle bottom cars that you don't always see in a truck this big. I have heard this is hard on turn signals and brake lights!

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

I would say some one installed a 12 volt starter by mistake.

    Help with Motor Mount Bracket

This looks like a short cut to me. Small block 350's have the same motor mounts and the engine side bracket has holes in it not notches. Yes you have to remove starter to remove motor mount bolt but that is no big deal. I want my motors securely fastened with the bolt thru both mount holes.

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

In post 15 your picture of your starter shows part numbers Delco 336-1900 or GM 19136209. Both these numbers correspond to a 12 volt starter. I would bet that is why your starter broke(blew up) and looks like it does now. You need to buy a 24 volt starter if you have an original 24 volt system...

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

Are you going to stay with the 12 volt system you have now or change back to 24 volt?

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

Do not try to run without a starter brace!!!

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

Ok, now you know it has the starter brace. Be sure and reinstall it along with both starter bolts NEW. I would look for a remand AC DELCO starter like you took off or take the one you took off to a reputable starter repair shop and let them go thru it and check it out. If relay under dash stuck...

    84 CUCV Not starting

There is a difference in ignition switches for a non tilt column like our cucv's and a tilt column. Make sure it is for a non tilt column. I would also make sure all wires at the starter are tight and the connections in good shape. Also check the connections on the 12 volt diamond on the...

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

I would take the starter off and see if the fly wheel will turn. Does it have the starter brace on the back of the starter to block?

The good news and the bad news

What amazes me is some hands at tire shops do not know this simple fact. I have seen them mount them together instead of 180 degrees apart. When they do I ask them to check pressure on the inside tire. Then it becomes a problem all of a sudden!

The good news and the bad news

Hey I bet if you check inside dual air pressure you will wish that odd shape hole was bigger!
