Starting work on ECV hood fiberglass repair. So many cracks [emoji22]
1st order of business is repairing bonding between support structure and panel. Support structure is cracked almost everywhere. Using 3 layers of glass to repair structure. Ordering 3M Panel bond to address a few areas...
I’m getting into the LR shaft to assess problems with the hub side joint. Referencing TM 9-2320-387-24-1 section 6-7 for ECV.
I’m not entirely clear on hub side joint disassembly. Any guidance appreciated.
Are cross/clips/roller cages available?

Completed reinstalling the rear differential assembly post rebuild. Lots of work on a spare time basis.
Replaced rear driveline universal joints.
New pads and rotors. Rotors were warped.
Took the opportunity to replace RR brake line which was compromised.
Flushed and bled all 4 corners with...
Preparing another X door for paint. Upper corner of window frame was damaged. Rebuilt the structure with resin & glass mat. Got very close to original lines and finished off the low spots with filler.
Pulled off the supplemental armor to get after corrosion before final paint.

Fun with rear calipers today.
Wound in easily with regular RH caliper tool and economy wrench [emoji373] together.
Silglide on the pins.
Now I need to find replacement rear hoses without the ridiculous hard line extension.

TM covers procedure.
Diff has to be removed for full access to seals.
If you are pulling the assembly it’s the best time to inspect gearset and bearings for wear.
Diff mounting brackets tend to come loose. Inspect/clean threads and use locktite per TM on reinstallation.

Thought the group might appreciate this. Torsen diff was destroyed in service. Wheel teeth are stripped and some of the helical gears are as well. Fortunately the ring & pinion survived.
Going back together with new bearings and a replacement Torsen….

Rear driveshaft joint service. New Spicer 5-1350X non greasable. Better seals and figure I’ll just replace when they wear.

Nearly had a diff stranded at YRC last week. I was the last pickup at my local terminal.
Since they shut down I’ve seen rates go up 2-3X from CA to WA

My hero today.
Some close throw shaking on the yoke casting around the bore and very carefully on the bolt face did the trick.

M1151A1.
Removing rear diff for service. The driveshaft to pinion bolts are stuck well. Tried WD40 in the back side of the bolt hole bores along with mapp gas heating. No joy.
Trying air hammer flat anvil on the pinion next. Then destructive removal.
Any other suggestions?

I’ve added it to the side panels with some measured improvements. The op panels need some work but I was also concerned about exhaust heat above the muffler
