Nice one Pat - looks loads better than when I last saw it. Should help big time with the migration.
Keeping the "soft" front - or will you be looking for that CUCV brush guard effect?
Did I just hear some one say "Bob it"....!!!!!
"..... oh, the humanity".
Found this pic recently - '60s wrecker spring locks for side lifting. Way quicker than deploying the stabilisers when lifting to the side and when not lifting to the max. This is also done remotely with tracked crane vehicles.
Will have a look see later if the lifting eyes on the rear bogey...
Don't see and adjusted "signature" line for the 819 yet!!!
You don't need a drawing for that - just do it and post the pics for us to look at..... by next weekend!
Now give me something that does need a drawing for : )
I think you need to decide on your requirements. Making an XM933 (big assumption here that that is the 900's version 819) would be nice since they (military) never 'finished' the idea, but for functionallity around your yard/local...
Useage:
recovery - big winch/ground spades etc:........? %...
Too many "M" numbers! My brain hurts.....
What do you want to do with the XL 928? It only has single frame members so would pretzle just looking at your first load...
You want to make a 900 series 819... is that the plan? Oh yeah.. AND add the big winch.
How about loosing the...
****-it Jeff, you know I was about to.........
How about putting the big winch behind the cab - or even a pair of smaller ones and run the cables below deck down either side?
We have already discussed the crappy locker situation ad infinitum, so there is an option... Or put the 45K on the...
Sorry everyone - that's what assuming get's you. Well spotted Clinto/Ferro'.
Yes I was confused in that 5 tons have front glad hands and didn't know that Deuces did not. If not replaced (on a 5t) and capped off, then brake line hookup can't be done "easily" for towing.
Shuting up now - going...
Grooving of NDCC steers.
My 816 came 'fresh' from service/base storage - on road truck steer tyres. Looked girlie so I replaced them with 2 new ones. Recently I got some more 'new' new ones but wanted to improve the steering end's performance in inclement weather and seeing as it came with...
So you want to "temp fix" this, which means you need to use or move the truck, but you don't want the ability for the truck to be towed safely - glad hands connection... (Not really sarcasm - just trying to understand why not leave open 'till fixed properly) Having said that, my 816 came with...
Oh that's a real easy one to explain - ask me how I know!!!! However, I was lucky enough to notice it just scuff the paint on the side of the cupola as I stopped slewing to the right side. However, my drivers side shipper brace (travel lock) will not fit on the peg on the boom as the cast...
Can you do:- a rolled (safe) edge? Maybe almost 180 deg to allow for painting inside lip. Could be an option for the outside edge rather than an upstand or down ward lip of 90 deg.
- A 'set' on the front edge would be nice to lie on top of the lower lip of the bumper so that the bottom is...
Always wanted a bigger wrecker, so got an M816 [which is technically only a 'Medium' wrecker. Where as Ward La France M1A1 (6 ton), Sterling HSC330 (15 ton), HEMTT M984A1/E1-etc., (10 ton) are "Heavy" wreckers].
I think I nearly paid for mine by the end of summer harvest! See thread ...
I was caught out by this threads age too... I am making one of these for my M816 drivers side (passenger side has the vise plate). Don't think it's a good idea for fuel but an extra water Jerry can would work.
Not sure I can get into full on retail production mode but can do a fab drawing...

Hey Fuzz' - what is up with your transfer case lever - is it supposed to lay flat one the floor? - Kind of hard to 'grab' when needed.
Maybe I need to get on and finish my X-fer lever extensions to save a few knuckles!
Maybe I'll trade you one for some routing info/pics etc., on the trolley...
Then perhaps 'AZ Deuce', YOU are the guy that needs to volunteer with a little dirty knee time and let us know what is hooked to what and where!
(pretty please!!)
Rosco - been a while since I studied for my CDL so yes, I ought go back and study the finite details of the systems!
BUT.......
With the bench test, yes, there is delivery to what would be the trailer, however when you move the lever back to the off position, that pressure does not come...
Thanks DH - I followed a couple of those reference numbers through their manufacturers but did not find any info on "plumbing" other than the ports are labelled 'Delivery', 'Supply' and 'Exhaust'.
I don't understand the exhaust function, there is full flow of air through the valve in the...
Trolley Valve - bench test
Finally managed to do a bench test on the 3 pipe trolley valve.
Ports open to air flow shown for both positions of handle.
It appears that this valve is supposed to be 'cut' into or inserted 'inline' to the pressure line and not 'Tee'd into the pressure line.
With...
