I understand the necessity of keeping the Suez open....what I have a problem with is giving billions of dollars out in aid for the privelege...I bet we still have to pay the fee for a US military ship to go through the canal.
I don't want this to degenerate into a political brew ha ha but I am a writer and this is how I express myself when I see something fundamentally wrong with what is happening to our country.
I have been following the events in Egypt, not because I give a rats behind about the country, but...
That is why (for the most part) older military vehicles did not have permanently installed floor mats.
Water was constantly introduced into the cab and if there was something in there to catch and hold it rust would result in short order.
Some units would put removable mats in vehicles that...
As I stated I have never had the pleasure of driving one but I did see them bouncing along the tank trails at Fort Campbell......it's my understanding that driving one was akin to driving a motorized bucking bronco.
The were a pain to transport if they had to be moved a long distance. They...
Worn as a fashion accessory to the dreaded red tutu.
There's a vision to have seared into your retinas.
It was the precursor to the HEMMET family of vehicles......they were used as beasts of burden and came in a cargo, fuel tanker and (in the case of CAMO's GOER) a recovery version.
I...
There are a lot of M916 and M920's going through the sales process now.
The 24"tires are not cheap so you should have some success pimping them off on another owner who is staying with stock tires. Shipping may be an issue since more of those trucks sell on this side of the country than out west.
Armor, warbird, BFG carrier........you are DA MAN!!!!:not worthy::not worthy:
Clinto will be :drool::drool: over your DUKW.
Bring something to the GA Rally in Oct.:jumpin:
When I had my 816 I insured it with Progressive as a "farm vehicle".
As I was writing out the (big fat) check my agent told me that if I towed anything with it on a public highway or incurred any damage while using as a recovery vehicle anywhere except my farm they would not pay.
Tow...
For a field expedient cup holder take one of the front lift shackles off and put it on the floor behind the gearshift.
A large Mickey-Dees styrofoam cup fits right into it. It will vibrate some and slide off if you take a turn fast....but it will hold the cup pretty good on straight, level...
Jim.......I was up at Redstone Monday and I went by a storage lot...not the GL DRMO lot but it looked like all the stuff in there was awaiting disposal......there were a lot of shelters in there...along with some big van trailers like I had at the GA Rally.
I have no idea when they will be...
Looks like it is still bolted to the shipping pallet.....it may have never been issued to a unit.
If so that seems like a decent price.
It would look good in the bed of a deuce or mounted on a bolster trailer.
That has GA Rally hooch written all over it.[thumbzup]
Bolster trailers are going cheap.......I have a dropside bed mounted on one and it works great.
The deuce pulls the bolster easily, you have air over hydrolic brakes.
If you slide the beam all the way out you have a platform behind the bed.
Mine is sitting out back right now with a load of...
The key word here is "theme". I don't think those are issue items.
When I was in the Army we had to use our own CB's when we convoyed from GA to CA.
Oddly enough when we got out to Fort Irwin, CA they made us remove the antennas so we could not use them on the installation. Might have had to...
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
I have driven a deuce with big tires on stock rims.....it wandered all over the road (truck did not wander with NDT's on it) and bumped my pucker factor up to about 8.5.
Let common sense prevail.
A hardtop will protect you against the elements better.
Not much difference in the noise level since most of it comes in through the cab and not the roof.
You can add a muffler if you want to but most of us just use hearing protectors.
I added a muffler to my naturally aspirated...
