    Supplemental Electric Air Compressor

I was able to reuse one hole in the bottom of the dash. I did a final test fit then I used a wire wheel on a drill to prepare the surface for paint. First Dupli-Color Self-Etching Primer and then Rapco 383 Green CARC Substitute. I'm not a huge fan of metal work (hot metal and SHARP...

    Supplemental Electric Air Compressor

After some thinking and research, I decided to include on the panel a manual reverse light switch. I have the automatic one to install yet from Peashooter, but I still wanted the ability to manually turn on the reverse lights, such as if I were hooking a trailer up in the dark, by my self, or...

    Supplemental Electric Air Compressor

I moved onto some more electrical work. I decided I better address to power wire on the front-most electrical air compressor. It was only just barely long enough and I didn't want too much force presented to the Bussman ShortStop circuit breaker and having its electronics separate and short out...

    Supplemental Electric Air Compressor

I removed two layers of the plastic loom on the air-dryer electrical power wire and installed a thick piece of rubber hose instead for increased longevity. I installed the replacement 90 degree elbow and 1/2" push-to-connect, and was optimistic and zip tied the ensemble back together. The...

    Air Dryer for an M35A2

I removed the 3/8" and 1/2" plastic loom and installed a thick piece of rubber. ;-)

    A deuce tent

Unfortunately it remains untested. You'd think I'd be more on top of it to get out there and test fit the new end curtain. I was actually waiting until I had the deuce put back together from another project (that's been delayed for various reasons) so I could pull the truck out of the garage and...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

According to the professional powder coater who did my M66 gun ring legs and other parts: certain types of powder coat discolor and are damaged by fuels and solvents.

Tooele UT to BAck East 6EA Tires

Ridiculous. I had a seat shipped over 2000 miles from North Carolina. It was $250. I had an 8' pallet of side racks shipped from Ohio for $225. Granted, both of those were from East to West. Fastenal brings in much more product TO Utah than it sends FROM Utah. Did you get that quote just...

Tooele UT to BAck East 6EA Tires

There's not much (or none) for MV traffic or "SteelSoldier's" express that heads in or out of Utah. Your best bet would be to have the seller strap the 6 tires to a pallet and ship them via Fastenal's store-to-store freight for about $225.

    Air Dryer for an M35A2

There's actually two layers of split loom there, 3/8" and 1/2". But you're right, a piece of hose would provide better protection.

    Valence's 1972 M35A2

2014: February: With the help of one of my brothers, we installed an NOS air-assist steering kit. It is miles better than manual steering! However, what I don't like is that most of the natural "return to center" after a hard corner is gone, and it consumes a lot of air but at least it's there...

    Valence's 1972 M35A2

I've resisted creating the usual, "everything I've done to my deuce thread", as I prefer each topic to have its own thread (more or less). It is my opinion that doing so it more useful to others who may be interested that particular item and it helps keep the thread more focused and on topic...

    Air Dryer for an M35A2

I've completed the new air brake hose routing to the air drier from the manifold. For added protection, I've covered each of the hoses in plastic split-loom. For more information, see post #71 in my Supplemental Electrical Air Compressor thread...

    Supplemental Electric Air Compressor

I've completed the new air brake hose routing to the air drier from the manifold. For added protection, I've covered each of the hoses in plastic split-loom. The plastic split-loom I used: Absolute USA SLT14 1/4-Inch x 100-Feet Split Loom Tube...

    Broke my mirror

I'd call Big Mike's Motor Pool. I know I saw him post on Facebook that he had those threaded rods, but I'm not finding them on his website. (maybe he had a limited supply) https://www.bigmikesmotorpool.com/

Ibis tek light bar vs led light bar.

I haven't had to replace any of mine, but if you see the picture of the underneath of one of my ballasts in post #9, you need a 24V 35W HID Ballast. A quick search on eBay didn't show any exact matches...

    M35A2 Front wire harness questions

You could call and ask Eastern Surplus. Though I would expect if they have one it'd cost more than Erik's. https://www.easternsurplus.net/PartDetails/2668/M35A2-Series-Front-Wiring-Harness-24-Volt

    Brainstorming a few ideas/daily driver

Locking doors is easy, and not that this is the only vendor source for them either: http://www.thosemilitaryguys.com/truck-locking-door-handle-kit/ However, the internal door mechanisms aren't known to be very robust, and the door glass is somewhat easily broken. It only stops the casual and...

    M101A3 mods for Jeep/off road

I'm of a different camp. Cut it up, mod it, its yours. Make it fit your needs. Your time, money, safety, enjoyment is worth more than a trailer or anyone else's opinion. On the other hand, due to prices in your area, if you can sell it and make a nice profit so you can get a narrower trailer...

    West bound!

This thread title was disappointing. True, a westward direction is being traveled, but I was expecting traveling OUT WEST. You know, to at least two more states, or the Rockies, even better, most of the way to the west coast. The Western US population of MV enthusiasts could use the whole...
