    New MEP 1040 10KW

I did my best to bring back the OEM Optima batteries but no joy. I used a quality battery charger that has a AGM setting. It looks like I will replace them with new AGM batteries. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Skytrak 6000m attachments

ColdMike, I put a skidsteer-style quick attach adapter on my military Terex TM51-19, which is a 13,500lbs telehandler. It is pretty handy to switch out forks, rock buckets, standard buckets, etc. I also have a grapple but there were two issues using it on my little telehandler- the weight of the...

    New MEP 1040 10KW

I picked up one of the MEP 1040 GenSets at the recent USMC Albany sale on GovPlanet. I think the batteries might be shot but I jumped it with 24v and it fired right up. The meter reads 8 hours but I don’t think this one was ever issued. It still has all the new tags on it. I plan to use...

    Converting 24v HWR to 12v

Many thanks, G744! I just completed my OpTest of the HWR using a couple of 12v batteries I had in my garage. It seems to work pretty well. I was getting around 120F on the low setting and about 160F on the high setting. The voltage of the batteries dropped to around 20v as they are old...

    Converting 24v HWR to 12v

I am writing to request advice on the conversion for the military 24v HWR (Heater, Water and Ration) unit to 12v system. The spec on the heater calls for 22-28 V dc 15A Maximum (14A nominal). My voltage converter puts out 24v 20A max from the 12v source. From what I recall in my electronics...

Yanmar L70 Diesel Kit for MEP-016

I purchased a few of the Yanmar L70 Diesel engine refit kits for the gasoline powered version of the MEP-016 generators. The kits come with all the parts to convert the generators to run on the Yanmar L70 engine. The engines have electric start and are set up for a 24v system. Does anyone know...

    M32K-4A Rough Terrain Weapons Trailer

Thanks! We’ll see what the wife says about a tow tractor. I have a Kubota L3130 that would do a fair job towing but I think a military surplus trailer should have a mil surplus tractor to go with it. :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    M32K-4A Rough Terrain Weapons Trailer

I wanted to share some pics of my new M32K-4A flatbed trailer. This trailer was purchased from the GSA site and was at the Des Moines, Iowa Federal Surplus Center. The trailer was in unused condition and still had a much of the shipping materials attached such as the banding to stack trailers...

M37 on Purple Wave Auctions SOLD @ $6,710

I am not sure if it was a Steel Soldiers member who won the M37 on Purple Wave Auctions but the truck went for $6,710. It looked like a very nice truck and congrats to the new owner, whoever that is. It just goes to show the M37 is a classic and the prices for these great old trucks seems to...

    Thinking about a 1st Deuce

This is a timely topic for me. I am also considering a Bobbed M35A3. They seem like great trucks and would meet my needs for a general purpose "super-duty" pickup. I intend to keep my truck at a cabin and use it occasionally to move my boat, trips to the lumber yard, some hunting trips, etc...

    First Ride in M715!

Thanks for the comments. I am very excited to get this truck out and about. I did get quite a few comments and stares on the road. As a friend of mine says, "You are the Grand Marshal of your own parade when you drive the M715!"

    First Ride in M715!

I purchased this truck from the GSA last December and finally got her on the road today! I converted the brakes using the F350 wheel cylinders and added a dual brake reservoir. It has the original engine and it runs great! I am planning to add new canvas for the top and seats.

M1008 Will Turn Over but Not Start

I am writing to see anyone might have some ideas on why my truck will not start. Here are the symptoms: Turn key half way and Wait Light comes on Wait Light goes out as normal Hear Solenoid click Turn key to starting position and engine turns over (Note: I have new Optima Batteries in 24V...

Interior Colors (dash / door panels)

I replaced the burgundy dash, seat cover and door panels with tan my my CUCV. I think the color goes better with the OD Green. I will see if I can post some better pics but I think you can see the contrast in the background of this steering wheel pic.

Not exactly a CUCV but a Military 6.5L Turbo Diesel

Thanks for all the great information. I have the truck at a diesel shop and they are giving it a checkup. I upgraded the batteries today to twin Optima's. They are expensive but I have had very good luck with them in my other vehicles. Hopefully the IP will still function and not have to be...

Not exactly a CUCV but a Military 6.5L Turbo Diesel

I recently purchased a '98 Chevy Suburban from GL. The vehicle only has 42K miles and comes with the 6.5L turbo diesel. I thought this would be a good addition to the two M1008 I am using as work trucks. The only problem with the M1008 is they are not great on the highway. The Suburban...
