5 ton ESP
This is one of 12 trucks made for a 5 ton Extended Service Program. It has a 3126 Caterpillar and a 7 speed Allison (double Over Drive) with a push button shifter. It also has a single speed transfer case so it uses all 7 gears each time you stop. It hauls butt!
It is also for...
AZ
I just read your location. I am in Yuma on business and I fly out of Phx next week. If you need help I can drop by and give you some pointers.

Look on the brake buckets on the rear axles and you will see a piece of all thread with a T-shaped head on it. They will be in holders on the outside of the housing.
Remoce them with a 3/4" wrench and place the T into the hole on the back of the canisters and turn it until you...
395s
I have ran both the 395s and 1400s on my M939A2 trucks. My heavy hauler still uses 395 XZLs because they have a weight rating of 12,300# per tire.
You will see a 4 mph change at the same rpm. Remember that there is a 3" delta but only 1.5" matters.
Here are some pics of my M923E3...
missing the point
You missed the point. All I am building is a cage to replace my top bows. The red line represents where the crush area is if you roll the truck on its top. The motor and top bow cage will be weight bearing structures.
There is no bar going from the top bow cage to the hood...
Bjorn
No, I would not support the windshield frame. My top bows are extra tall so that I can walk under them. The replacement cage will have the same profile. The line going from the cage to the engine block shows the projected area of protection for the cab.
What do you think?
Justin...
Rops
The idea of this was not based on ROPS but it will also apply. I am woring on replacing the top bows on one of my trucks with tubing tied into the bed floor. I want the same quantity, size, shape as the current bows but only tie each corner into the bed.

M939a2
This is not an A3 but similar. One of my M939A2 trucks with an Allison will not shift up until I let off of the accelerator. It does not take much but I do have to let up and get back into it for it to shift between 2/3 and 4/5.
It is a pain but it seems to be working fine otherwise...
4"
I am thinking 4" to put the rear air bags in the middle of their range of motion. I only have 2" of compression since I was trying to make the back level with the front. I will air the rear springs up to mid range and match the front. It should be between 4" and 6".

Like it
I have to admit... I like the looks of the truck inthe first post. That much tire clearance on a bobbed M925 would be the ticket.

Smart folks
Chris, how I love this site. Thank you everyone for the info... it was the box. I changed it out with another one tonight and it is doing fine.

Thanks folks...
I have had two calls today that said "check the box" and replies here are saying the same thing. I will move a box from another truck tonight and see how that works.
If this fixes it I would love to simplify this box to make the truck more reliable for the Alaska Trip...
progressive
Thinking about it... this truck did this twice before on different occasions but it seemed like a one-time-deal. Now it has progressed to constant.

Ok, this is my week with M939A2s. I have one that is starting once per day, really. I can go out in the morning and it will fire right up. Run it for a while, shut it off and try again... nothing. No clicking or anything. It is like the dash switch is not hooked to anything. Let it sit...
OK folks this is showing how dumb I am but it is for the greater good of the group.
One of my M939A2 series trucks had an issue where it would not build air pressure. It is a great truck that I drive often and it has never done this before.
I ran out of diesel and decided to tow it...
tractor
Why has no one mentioned the M932A2?
1. The 8.3 cummins is choice!
2. It runs 65mph
3. Air shift t-case
4. 6x6
5. Automatic
6. Better off road that the H-E-A-V-Y M916
7. Lower plate that the M916
I have variants of each truck discussed and the 939A2 series is really hard to beat...
