The problem here is that you started out with a 939 series 5 ton! I started out with a Deuce, now that was loud as hell inside driving down the highway, I do mean to the point that I wore earplugs! I needed to quiet the Deuce down inside a bit so I could at least talk inside the cab while...
Thanks much guys I will stand advised on the 2 psi max into the fuel system. I also run trucks with of course Cummins and CAT and of course they both have hand primer/bleeders on them, WHY cant Detroit do the same?
Thanks again guys!
Hey guys I sure think I have a complete set of TMS for my M977 HEMTT but cannot find anything directly about how to bleed the fuel system? My truck has the 8V92 in it and I ran it out of fuel by not paying close enough attention to what I was doing. Now I need to reprime/bleed the fuel system...
Hey guys I just got the radiator back into my HEMTT and in taking the trans cooling lines off the radiator to remove it I lost around a gallon of transmission fluid I obviously want to replace it, can you tell me what that truck uses for trans fluid, its kind of a redish/purple color, or at...
Hey guys I figured out how to repair this radiator, I put it on the bench and pressurized it and found the leak and luckily is was accessible to solder so that repair is done. Now to hot water pressure wash everything down and flush it before it goes back in. I did find a beautiful core for...
Guys I am running out of options here concerning my 1988 M977 HEMTT radiator repair, I have found a new core but the seller wants 6200.00 for this core, I understand its brand new but its just to much money. With that said my radiator has about a 4" wide and 1 ft long patch of discoloration at...
Hey guys I am one of the biggest users of my TM manuals ever I full sets for all my trucks but find myself looking for more information than I seem to have.
I have a 1988 M977 HEMTT and need to replace the radiator core, besides the 107 bolts holding the tanks onto the core it looks doable but...
You bought a relatively big truck, and sounds like you added another 10K pounds to it I am not sure what you were expecting? The blow out, it happens but your only not prepared once! I am not sure what you mean by making the truck more road worthy? Are you talking comfort? Drivability...
Dasgog I dont mean this to offend you at all but in case you didnt know all the TMs for the Deuce are on this site and can be viewed anytime you need them, by the sound of your questions you need them! In these God given publications are all the answers to all your question and correct...
Hey guys I looked in the TMs and could not find it but I am looking the the NSN number for the radiator on my M977 HEMTT its a 1980 with the 8V92 and Eastern Surplus needs the number to give me a quote on replacement of the unit I have.
Much appreciate your time and thanks for the assist!
Karl
Hey guys I am pulling the Radiator on my M977 HEMTT and tomorrow I disconnect the Hydraulic lines from the radiator, my question concerning this is there any shutoff valves in the hydraulic lines? I have gone through the TMs and have found nothing and draining the tank is one way but I would...
I dont know if Iowa offers this option but I have my 5 ton registered as a farm truck in North Dakota its a non-commercial private use designation and the only stipulation is that I am not supposed to use the truck more than 400 miles from my farm address, which I never do anyway. Iowa is a...
I dont know if the hummer is a mechanical tach or not but if it is detach the speedo cable from the back of the tack and put a few drops of oil into the jacket that surrounds the cable, if you can pull the center part of the cable out do so and lightly oil the entire length and it should just...
Comparing a 920 to a 939 series 5 ton is like comparing a 5 ton to a Deuce. The 920 is a pretty big and very tall truck I think if I remember right the stock top of the stack was just a shade over 12 ft.
Like everything there are the good and the not so good! The CAT engine is a very decent piece but very expensive to repair, CAT is very proud of their parts. The A3 has CTIS (central tire inflations system), in theory this is a grand idea but in the real world in which we live it can be...
