I've seen a lot of the M939 trucks with the hand throttle cable disconnected. I just assumed it was to eliminate the redneck cruise control, but maybe it was a field fix to a common problem? I'll have to reconnect the cables and see what happens. Sorry for the sidetrack.

Since you have M923s, without a lot of weight in your bed, the towed truck might push the towing vehicle when braking in a curve. Try to avoid hard braking in a curve, and plan your braking on the straightaway prior to the curve or turn. Your truck may turn, but the towed truck might want to...

Get insurance before you drive it off. You should be fine and have a great time, but plan $$ as if it will be need to be towed off the freeway and later shipped 200 miles home so you can replace the dried seals at all 6 hubs, busted IP or other more involved repair.
