My state, Kentucky, passed a law a few years back saying it is ok to register HMMWVs for the road so I hope I don't have to go through all this mess after spending a year and a bunch of money restoring the vehicle.
I have some questions about what's written above. What is MAK'd? Why would you cut springs off, because they'd raise it too much? If they're going to sag I'd just leave them alone. I thought an M1123 was an A2?
What i meant was he has 12 and 24 volt models. He said the 12 volt models don't work for Hmmwvs that are 12 volt converted. I've called three times but no one answers
I’m replacing the seats so I have cut out all the old sheet metal that was there. I’m going to have the bases open so you can slide things under them for storage and I didn’t want the seats hinged or removable.
I’m not a fan of body lifts but I see why they’re used in these vehicles so often. I’m building one now but not just cheap spacers. I’m making the four corners from scratch 1.5” taller. Not just for bigger tires but when Govplanet picked it up it squashed the body where the forks were a...
SO I got my M1123 in. I'm mechanically inclined but I haven't done much automotive work. My plan is to do something like the Predator ATVR-6 (internal cage, not exo). I'm going to Line-X inside and paint the outside satin sheen, build a cage, new bumpers, new gauges, all new wiring, brakes...
I don't know, I'm trying to get away from the military look a little and the wheels BR makes that I like don't come in any 8 lug patterns. Method makes a bunch of them but if you upsize to a 39 or 40 inch tire they're all 13.50 wide and needs a 10 inch wheel but Method mostly makes 8 inch or so...
I'm in the same position as you. It seems no one makes the same size as factory. Some people use method wheels to but it's a standard bolt pattern from other vehicles so you just have to understand and match up the numbers as best you can. Method sells them too but the backspacing isn't that...
I'm confused. When I googled NP242 it says selectable 2 and 4 WD but I thought HMMwvs were all time all wheel drive which is the duty of the transfer case so which is correct?
I have an M1123 so I think it comes with a 4L80? Looks to be in rough shape. Would a 6L80 bolt right into the same spot and also if I put a 6.2 LS in there can the transmission stay where it is and I mount the motor and build motor mounts to it or does the whole combo need to move around?
Just got the vehicle this week so in cleanup phase. Was going to make Youtube channel to hep people but I think I'll just document on here. Will do a body lift so I can start the bumpers and cage then work on motor stuff. Trying to decide whether to buy a full wrecked vehicle or source all...
Thanks so much guys. Wolfer on Ebay sells halfshafts cheap and the description lists them as American made and better than AM Generals. Are they any good? What kind of reputatiopn for durability do they have? Thanks
I read the M1123 is the heavy duty version of the M998 so I would think it would be 12.1 parts but i think it has 10.3 parts. I'm trying to buy halfshafts, rotors, calipers etc but not sure which ones to get. Serial number about 217000
