caught it huh...
Hehehe.... thought that would kick up some interest. There are commercial 44K toploaders that used the 5.81 ( I was wrong about 5.83) ratio. Drop in conversion.
Unfortunately I can not claim fame to this knowledge. Adam from adamsoffroad deserves the credit. He is a 5 ton...
yup
Not a lot of work. It is one of my bobbers so the axle swap is minimal effort.
What is the motivation... 5.83 gears, factory air lockers and good brakes.
The reality of a truly streetable deuce is getting closer.

lights
Thanks all for the light cautions. I bought an M105A3 for this reason. The bed has the lights molded in to the body next to the tailgate. I will perform the transplant over the Christmas break.
The one I bought is tan. This is a ref pic.

upper shock mount
check for shiny metal on the corner of your upper shock mounts. That is where I rubbed during factory wheel / 395 field trials. Never hit the tierod.

Yup...
Yes, wider wheels with less backspace will prevent this. I have no rubbing issues. We use these trucks for disaster relief and push them pretty hard during driver training.
