Hub Studs Sheared Off - Wrecker - Texas

Might want to investigate why the studs sheared in the first place before heading out again, and while the hub is off. Were the nuts loose (check the other tires), bearings bad or not well lubed. Could just be too long a trip at speed with a lifted tow exceeded the truck's capabilities...

    1600+ miles in a Deuce

Actually, with the steering wheel tied down, I don't have any problem backing a towbar'd truck. You need a lot of room if you want to change direction, and may need to jockey back and forth a few times, but you can do it. Backing straight is not a problem if you're used to backing trailers.

New Member from Oregon/ Just Bought M923A2 First Ever, Advice?

Welcome!! Way to jump in with both feet! I wouldn't worry about the CTIS during the trip home unless it gives you a problem. Read the -10 TM completely several times before you start it up. Flip the two switches on, wait 3-4 seconds for the ABS check, then crank. To turn off, flip the...

    M936 A2 transfer case problem

I have had a couple of trucks you had to shut off and bleed air in order to shift into high. I've flipped the interlok roller on all my trucks, but I may just do the bypass described by m16ty.

So you want to buy a cheap truck from GL?

Not sure who you are referring to, since I've only sold 2 trucks in 6 years, but this is an old post describing potential pitfalls of buying M809 series trucks on GL and expecting that you can just jump in and ride off into the sunset. Funny thing is, the same or similar risks exist with the...

turning an M936A2 wrecker into something even more useful

If you get a trailer converter dolly, you won't need to put a 5th wheel plate on a truck. Any deuce or 5-ton with box or cargo bed, even the wrecker, could pull a semi-trailer.
