I think GovPlanet is giving James frequent visitation points for his purchases because he goes to the site here in North Florida so much. Here is a picture of him hauling a mobile workshop out of there for me a few weeks ago!
The big deal was getting it off the trailer between two trees in a...
Well, I kept the old one & the brackets, so if I need to put it on the Deuce or something, just rebuild & install. Everytime I throw something away, I have to go buy it new next week. Sort of a plague on me I guess.
That trailer looks a lot better now than it did on the GP lot. It also looks like your other trailer if it was broken into & everything stolen down to the walls; that will never happen as long as you own it with your burglar alarm system & dogs. ;-)
I changed mine out to the one that Suprman was selling & it works great now. The OEM one was full of grey goop & water, as much as I wanted to believe that it was working, it was like a stopped up toilet; just causing more problems with every use.
Here is the requested picture of the Haldex...
That is very good work on the adding the 1" thread-o-let & good looking weld. If you had brushed the weld while still hot with a SS wire brush, it would have been as shiny as the rest of the tank. It is just cosmetic, so just an observation, not to detract from your work. I work with pipe...
It is for a M35 Deuce, I bought 4 of them in crates with all the bows, staves & bolts for outfitting a Deuce. After installing a couple, you get familiar with them. I do have a M1082 that I put a tan 5 ton cover on that I scored for $20.00 NIB that was too short for the sides & too long in...
My last Deuce from GP came with two hawker 6TL batteries. One will smoke a 100 amp battery tester, the other one, not so much anything. I put that battery on repair mode for several days with a battery charger & it would not come back to life. Wound up replacing both batteries & use the Hawker...
I won a M1082 out of Ft Bragg & got it home (within 30 miles) via the Steel Soldiers Express & a few kind souls including Wes. To get it the last 30 miles, I used one of my Deuces to tow it with the air brakes attached & operational. To try & tow it with a F150 truck is not something I would...
Thought that fit nicely! For some reason it didn't attach?
I checked out the Deuce & took her to work today @ the Chemical Plant where I work. Since it is a homeland security facility, security was quite surprised when I drove up to the gate @ 05:00 wait to get in & get to work. They finally...
Welcome to the board & congratulations on the new to you Deuce. Sounds like you have a good handle on the maintenance of the truck so keep up the good work. The only down side is that this truck has a much taller bed to throw firewood into. Enjoy & keep us posted as to how you are coming along...
Welcome aboard, now stow your gear & get ready for some fun. Lots of smart guys here with good info on your new hobby. There are military vehicles in this area to be sold if you pay attention here & state what you are looking for. Trucking a new toy from Texas won't be cheap by any means. Look...
I won't continue to tow a trailer after it has gotten home from the original recovery, unless it has plates on it. The trips to the meetings & rallys are sans a trailer since they are not plated. A friend told me that if the truck is plated, it covers the trailer also (which I know not to be...
I agree with Scrounger's post. After towing 3 M-1102's from Ft Stewart & the Atlanta DRMO facility, pulling a non tagged trailer home for the initial recovery was a breeze. The M-1082 was trucked to a members property by Wes & 30 miles home with a Deuce with no issues. All of this is here in the...
My biggest problem was removing the four bolts on the base & the the very rusted two nuts on the top of the unit. The rest was a breeze & the next truck will be not a problem.
Your not going to like the results of adding UMO to your diesel fuel. As posted elsewhere on Steel Soldiers, my experience was just like yours; poor performance, stuttering engine, problems with the filters getting plugged. Long term problems will most likely be damaged injectors & injector...
