Wow! Thank you folks for all the input. Nick has the suggestion that is good, but way beyond my mean so it'll stay as is. Looks like I will not be using this for any heavy dumping like Mudman says.
I was only planning on a couple of yards of compost/dirt, or maybe 1 yd of driveway rock like...
After reading several posts here I realize the 101A2 was not totally intended to act as a dump trailer--but, the moments, leverage and force needed are surely there to approximate a dump.
Some folks have stated that the trailer will suffer spring damage if used as a dump-the 'cast' springs will...
By the way, I was missing one of the pockets for mine too. I thought I might be able to talk him out of a few, one for me and some for you, but, he wanted to keep his trailers intact---so.. I made one. You can use 1 1/4" aluminum tube and cut it to fit, or stainless. Cut the tube 1/2" longer...
I went back to the PO and we checked all his other trailers(some Kasel, some from others{Jackson??}) the Kasels(3) all had mahogany side wood and bows. The others(4) appeared to be Oak. In addition, several of his larger trucks all had mahogany battery boxes installed.- go figure
My original 101a2 tarp cover only has the interior straps on the front and rear-I think to tie up the front/rear fold on the tarp(you can roll it up and tie it. The straps are smallish, maybe 1/2" wide and ~16" long. If the tarp is secured well, I have no flapping problems at 50 mph.
Fantastic resto job!!
How did you prep the camo paint before shooting it with the red? Mine still has the rustproofing on it and unless you remove it all, paint seems not to stick well--alligators really bad. Did you have to take it down to bare metal?
That gas Griswold grill is SUPER! Where...
Just talked with the guy who has the trailers. He does not have any spare bow pockets, only the ones that are on the trailers. He's not willing to part them off the existing trailers. Sorry
Gary
Sorry, I didn't note that in the upgrade. Thanks.
But wouldn't someone wanting to "Logout" naturally look for a "Logout" button/link? A "lock" link doesn't connote logging out. There is no 'mouse-over' feature either to tell you that is what it is. May be an opportunity for improvement.

I would have thought maybe Oak also, but after I got the wood off and started sanding--it's not Oak, Red or White, the grain pattern is way too close for Oak. This wood was a little splintery too, and had a definite reddish cast to it. My vote is Mahogany. When I ran a couple of the side boards...
I decided to refresh the wood sides on my A2. Removed all the wood and sanded all the old cracked paint off. Undeneath all the grunge was some seriously good looking wood. Does anyone out there know what kind of wood was used for the sides? My A2 was built by Kasel Mfg. in Pa. in 1989.
Thanks...
Here's what I did with my M101A2
Had a ball/pintle combo installed on my Land Cruiser before I got the 101. Made a two piece pipe combo out of some 2-1/2" copper pipe I had. Just slips down over the ball and keeps the lunette from hammering-only has ~ 1/8" play in the hitch.
Still no comm from the guy who may have the bow holders. will send as soon as I have a confirmation.
As of today, still no return call from the source--he may be in Va. I'm going to check w/his brother Tues.
Nonotagain is right-the frame no. is the one. You may be able to also use an old rubbing method that Ancestry folks use-piece of thin paper up against the plate and rub with a soft lead pencil--may reveal the numbers
I bought my 101a2 here in Fl. All I needed was a certification that the owner actually owned the trailer, and a bill of sale(he made up a 1 page doc that had all the info on it-he owned it, weight, B Of S. They didn't care where it came from. Took me ~20mins and $70 to get registration and tag...
