M1083A1 Electrical Maladies Starting at the Disconnect Switches

Being rural is good, I happen also to enjoy the pleasure of it. I was thinking along the line of separating water from fuel and burning it in my vehicle/ Fresh water I have no trouble doing that. I've just never had a batch come through that was exposed to salt water. I agree with NDT about...

M1083A1 Electrical Maladies Starting at the Disconnect Switches

I want to pursue this matter a bit more but from different perspective. Does anybody know what happens to the salt content of water when mixed with diesel? I know that a mess of y'all are going to say get rid of it, and I don't dispute that but... does the salt stay as a corrosive ingredient...

M1083A1 Electrical Maladies Starting at the Disconnect Switches

Well, went to the remote switches and flipped them on and off. Must have been the problem because the starter problem went away/ Onward to the Fuel issue/ Drained the tank completely and primer pumped all left over liquids out/ Wiped out tank with rag/ Put 10 gallons back in/ Primed up to pump...

M1083A1 Electrical Maladies Starting at the Disconnect Switches

So after working with it today, I do have power to the cab. The fault was the 24vdc disconnect switch/ I removed it, cleaned all terminals and lugs and connected straight to the Manual On-Off Disconnect Switch/ Did not have to mess with the Polarity Box although I will at a later date! Now new...

M1083A1 Electrical Maladies Starting at the Disconnect Switches

Yes. Had what I would call a severe voltage drop. The work but on the 24vdc side it dropped it 5vdc. The 12vdc side was a 3 volt drop. Does this system work the same as the A0's perse but on the Master disconnect does it just have manual and then the electric switch by the drivers knee. After...

M1083A1 Electrical Maladies Starting at the Disconnect Switches

Hello! I tried searching this and found no content as to the Disconnect Switches for the A1/ I do have wiring diagrams and that is substantial but I am looking for personal touch that you mechanics have had. I know the flaws that go with these units and know that some of you fellows do too...

About the Blinking Lights on the N1509 Regulator

The other Regulator has no Lights. Thank you for your response and I will do the flow chart on Saturday and post the results. I know for sure that when you start the truck and watch the voltage gauge you can see the oil pressure happen and then the alternator fire up.

About the Blinking Lights on the N1509 Regulator

I was once told that when you have a different subject to bring up you start a new post, so I am but it is still in regard to Alternators. On a recent post I was dealing with a N1506 Alternator and found that the alternator itself was bad. I went to Forestry Division who is handling parting out...

    Niehoff N3030 Regulator/ M1078/ doesn't have flashing light capacity

From what I read the Double Alt houses a 24 volt alternator that is regulated and a 12 vdc alternator that is regulated. The use for this truck is Brush Truck. The 12 vdc side is used extensively for all the 12vdc for fireside communications and lights as well as equipment. So there is quite a...

    Niehoff N3030 Regulator/ M1078/ doesn't have flashing light capacity

I'll keep y'all posted then and write something up on it. I am going to go ahead and get one because of the situation I am in but I will do a personal follow up so then you don't have to have heresay. I have to agree it is pricey but suppose to be a direct bolt in and the concept seems to be...

    Niehoff N3030 Regulator/ M1078/ doesn't have flashing light capacity

Thank you Mr. Ronmar Sir. Those flow charts made me think I knew what I was doing. Diagnosed a bad Alternator on the full field test on the armature/ No magnetism. Takes all the guess work out of that. Right now I ordered an Alternator from www.double-alt.com/ Talked with Ron the fellow that...

    Niehoff N3030 Regulator/ M1078/ doesn't have flashing light capacity

The batteries are 1 year old and stay on a charger when in station/ I tested battery condition by voltage/ I run two Group 31 threaded posts and have for 1 year without fault except for the bad ground I stated at the Alternator
