Trailer under cckw appears to be a commercial trailer not a m870: has disc wheels with 22.5 low profile tubless tires on it, m 870 has 10:15 tube tires on cast spoke wheels. M 870 is laid down with winch on rear of tractor or if no winch, a forklift on site. Also comes with 3" pin, so to pull...
Item on floor is a Monarch brand "electro-lift" snow plow motor-pump unit. usually things this size are found in m37s and m38s as the plows typically hung on larger trucks exceed their capacity. if it is 24v then that is a real curiosity in its own right. Water tank use may imply dump body no...
Air is free tires cost money. Correct airf pressure for highway use in all 11 tires? A m35 has 35 or so grease points, more if there is a winch. Grease is cheap. Parts cost money. Read lo to find all of the grease points. Don't forget to oil can hinges, door closure devices, windshield...
1. M915a1 has a full auto trans.
2. Provision is made for ice control: I remember an alcohol kit.
3. M915's come with stud piloted wheels with 22.5 radial tires...
An alcohol evaporator is an authorized accessory and component of the artic kit for airbraked trucks such as m35 and 809 series. Meters alcohol into brakes to prevent water from freezing. If stuck without one it is possible to pour denatured alcohol into air compressor intake slowly and...
Benn messing around with the hand throttle ? If hand throttle is advanced engine will eventually be found running at full throttle even if hand throttle is only slightly advanced. In my experience this has happened with nh250s in 809 series trucks andx the v903 found in the 10 ton both of which...
Remember uncle packs crate engines at depot with the belts loose so they do not stretch in storage. Watch that belts are not damaged or damage something else when starting engine. Without a vehicle harness power will have to be supplied to fuel solenoid or same put in bypass. If fuel supply is...
Running m35 stationery with transfer case in neutral and transmission in gear is not recommended unless vehicle has transfer pto like a m49. no lube in transfer unless vehicle is moving. Also doubt heat from engine would thaw a brake cable. If engine is spinning it will start with a breath of...
2ea 600 gpm pods and a tpu (tanker pumper unit) fit into a standard m 35 bed. TPE can be eitehr pony motor gas or electric powered pump which works off slave receptical on truck. However, tanks are not baffled and truck rolls over easily if carrying a "slop" load. Max load for off road use is...
Also if any of the shafts were put back in backwards vibration could result; female and of any driveshaft is closest to the source of power if correctly oriented.
Moved a 44ton diesel locomotive with a m1000 trailer when in service; loading and unloading was accomplished by digging a sloped hole at the end of the rail and winching the load on and off with one of the winches on the tractor. Had two lengths of rail with spacer rods on floor of trailer. Had...
M 915 a1 with the allison transmission are quasi commercial vehicles and many common parts such as brakes, lights filters, etc are same as commercial trucks. The originals use a caterpillar transmission which is expensive to repair. Speed ? Tires or new ring and pinion set for each rear. Some...
Yes mousekateers the m 127 family and m870,871, 872 etc have both 12 and 24 v plugs but there ends the resemblance. The older trailers have air over hydraulic brakes and three completely separate sets of lights: 12 v service, 24 v service and 24 v black out. New trailers have straight air brakes...
Looks like it hass all the goodies: Troop seats, hard top, heater, turbo, & winch. Get shear pins for winch and download publications for this truck from resources section on this site. -10 is operators manual and -20 is organizational maintenance which tells you how to adjust the brakes and...
Other good news is military lug wrenches also come in dofferent lengths and the longer ones will not fit under the body of an m35 to loosen the nuts that hold the spare tire into the holder. Check yours before you get stuck someplace and cannot release the spare tire. . .
"bending ratio" that cold warrior mentioned is 12:1 for cable so a .5" cable needs a block with at least a 6" pulley, .75" needs a 9" pulley and so on.
Only problem is to tighten the two lug nuts that secue the spare tire into the spare tire carrier. remember the cable and pawl are to raise and lower the tire and in transit the weight of the tire is carried by the studs and lug nuts on the cross bar as they engage the keyways in the bracket. . .
Beg to differ with EMR but at least for 2.5 and 5t cargo covers they only fit one way. There is a front and a top. If the cover is correctlly laid out on the bows the side of the seam between each section will have the open side facing the rear of the truck. Top has buckles to tie sides up exposed.
think about at least two bottle jacks if you have to change a front tire. spare 900:20 tubes if you expect a lot of flats. Extra belts & tool to change them.
permitting would be a function of how the vehicle is registered: commercial plates absolutely, but as a "historical" or "antique" you may be exempt from fees depending on your state. And a 747 trailer is wider than the tractor so just because the front wheels fit through a gate that does not...
