Two things- Get your foot out of it, and change to radial tires. Radial tires have less rolling resistance, and as such, run cooler.
Another trick, and while quite hard in the deuce, is to get into the highest gear you can, as soon as you can. If you are starting at the top of a hill, use...
One of everything and two of some...........
I make sure that I have enough of all fluids to replace at least 1/2 of the fluid. For a 5 ton, thats 5 gals of 50/50 coolant, 3 gals of oil, 2 gals of gear lube, 1 gallon of DOT 5, 2 quarts of powersteering oil. At least 3 fuel filters, depending on...
The South Carolina Railroad Museum at Rockton SC is offering free train rides to all active and retired military on Saturday, May 26th. The train departs at 10am and 1:30pm from the depot at Rockton. All that is needed is a current military ID.
Along with the free train rides, I would like to...
Ain't nothing like a 5 ton extra long bed. Mine rides so smooth, and everybody is in awe of the sheer size of the monster. Once you go 5 ton, you won't go back............:doghead::beer:
How was the ride from Memphis to Little Rock? When Ferro and I drove that in his 915, we figured that the rear tires only touched the ground 25% of the time, due to the rough assed road.
You must be doing something wrong. My flapper won't move in a 60mph downburst. It has kept my exhaust pipe nice and dry thru some of the hardest wind driven rain ever. The only thing I hate is that it rattles at idle, but that is a minor thing to deal with.
I chose that route as I have driven it, and it was a good road. Sometimes google maps can take you places that 5 tons are not designed to go- even if it is covered in asphalt.
Need to find out what the model is. I am guessing that it is a 800 series truck(809-820). If it is in that bad a shape, I wouldn't offer any more then scrap price.
You can pick up a running tractor or cargo truck for 2-4 g's from GL, and they maybe in better or worse shape then the truck you...
I would run up to Meridian on I59 to I 20 east, then get US 80 at York to cut over east to Montgomery. Unless there is some reason to visit Mobile.:driver::mrgreen:
I get miles of smiles from both me and the folks that pass me. I have taken mine from NJ to SC to IN to GA. Getting ready to show it at a Memorial day event, and then another 1200 plus drive to IN and back. Then touch a truck, drive it to work, drive it to the Ga rally, maybe get it in a few...
