I purchased an Al. boarding steps for a shelter that came with a truck. I just take the steps, place them against the front bumper, and unlatch the hood, then walk it back stepping on the right fender. Then I cross over to the left, scoot around the air cleaner, and tie the hood back using the...
Even brand new, large trucks, do not have a clutch safety switch. Well, the newest I have driven is an 08. I don't know if anything newer has a safety switch. I doubt it.
The new Internationals and Mack have a clutch interlock switch. One of my coworkers found out about that the hard way...
5 tons are loud, but it is in the lower ranges. Deuces have an ear spliting whine that will either call dogs in a 5 county area, or send them running, depending on the dog.
I can drive the 5 ton around town without ear protection. I would never drive a deuce without hearing protection.
I went ahead and got my SF97. Made getting a title for the 1973 5 ton a LOT easier. SC took my money and 10 days later I had a title in hand.
I would either buy a vehicle that had clean paperwork, make the owner of the vehicle get clean paperwork, or make the owner knock the price done alot...
I haven't tried the 80lb choc lab in the 5 ton yet. I want to get the exhaust fixed( whole lower pipe is rotted out). My other problem is that I have two springer seats, and with the DW riding, I don't really have room for the Lab. I guess she could lay on the floor, but that gets hot after a...
Zack just left my LZ after driving the Long Easy(M814) around the greater part of Aiken(my home town). He did a pretty good job for the first time. The shift pattern tripped him up a few times, but he finally got it.
The 814 ran like a champ. I finally found and fixed all my air leaks in the...
I don't have a deuce, but if you want real excitement, come to Aiken, and I will let you tool around in my M814. If you can get her around the town, you can get ANYTHING around town. :driver:
Will it be a problem to get a title for since it doesn't have a 17 digit VIN #? When I go to my DMV office, can I just tell them it's a jeep, and leave it at that? And just what class of license do I need to drive a tank? Who has the best insurance rates for a tank? If the tank is for...
My 814 fired right up after sitting for over 3 years. Checked everything over, and then drove her 800 miles home. An 800 series might be slow, thirsty and a bone jarring ride, but by god it will get the job done.
GL more consumer friendly? you gotta be kidding me. Man when I won my M814, it was every bit of 800 miles away. Since I didn't have a clue when the EUC cleared, I asked GL if I could have just a few more days to recover the 814 from the yard. Not only was the answer NO, I was told I had 30...
