    m998 Air Lift Bump Shackle

There are 2 different bumpers. The older style take the same shackle as the front and has no large hole. The A2 bumper has a large hole for the tear drop style shackle. I have the castle nuts only for the tear drop if needed. The first pic shows the A2 bumper with the older set up. The older...

    Power steering fluid.

My recommendation is to stick with dexron as the hmmwv system is more complex than most others with the fan clutch, hydroboost, & power steering & winch (if equipped) sharing the same fluid. I don't think fluid caused your issue. Dexron III is backwards compatible with II and easy to find...

    LMTV at the Boneyard

I was very disappointed in December as I made a special trip to see the boneyard and PIMA Air & Space Museum. I knew about the bus tickets and called 2 days out to reserve/pay. I was then asked did I do my background check? Huh? New rules in November implemented mandatory background check 10...

Problem installing spacer on with socket

There are some fancier lug nut sockets with a teflon/plastic ? sleeve so they don't scratch fancy wheels for deep tight access. I would try a 6pt chrome or maybe get the specs from those fancy sockets to get outer width? I just find it crazy to have a special nut with standard threads and...

Problem installing spacer on with socket

OE studs are 13/16 with a 7/8 nut. There are specialty thin wall wheel nut sockets for tire shops out there. Search epay "steelman 78276" for one example.

Pre-Air Intake Cap Modifications - More air to the engine ?

I would be very Leary of removing the mesh and being able to ingest large debris. Yes, I know the air filter should catch it but the idea of stuff going into the can does not appeal to me. There is one way to get more air down the pipe. There is at least 3 different makes of prefilter oe for...

    5Ton Starter Help - Cummins 250

I think you will need the starter casting/tag number to get the correct 24v solenoid. I "think" there is an ac delco version and a prestolite starter that were interchangeable. If you can post up the numbers, I will try to id. There is a tm here for just rotating electrical (starters &...

    5Ton Starter Help - Cummins 250

Whack the solenoid and the back of the starter by the brushes and see if it makes a difference. Sometimes the brushes can stick when worn and you can get it to release and start. The solenoid is widely available but if you go that route I would replace starter. If replacing the starter...

Hydraulic guru’s, hmmwv guru’s and generally smart people I need your help with a fro

I stayed at Holiday Inn express recently... All, I can think of is all that extra hose footage and extra potential points of failure at each connection. Where would you mount the bypass? If in Cab, I would be leery of running a "live" hydraulic hose where failure could make a real mess....

    M998 Brake Issue

Yes, I have not researched the casting numbers but looks like a very common 70's-80's GM 1/2 ton pick up mst cyl with power brakes before they went to alum bores with plastic reservoirs.

    M998 Brake Issue

I do not have first hand knowledge or tested HMMWV brakes yet but in another lifetime sold parts. The hydroboost is the mechanical assist in place of a vacum brake booster in gas powered engines to make the brake effort/pedal softer/easier. If the hydroboost was out, on the brake side you would...

    What trailer is this? Generator?

I recall those units sold in the GL day somewhere out of Ga and an obscure location that was not a usual GL site. Memory is telling me either Gen set or pump?

    2017 LA rally

I know there has been a discussion about doing it at the old Armory in Poplarville and possibly campers staying at Lee's place ( can't remember screen name). Mississippi rifle has access to trail riding acreage not to far away. He was coordinating with Lee. Let me see if I can get them to...

    M942 A2 Van Body Expansible Theater C-575

What looks weird to me is that is has the frame extensions but I do not believe it has a winch installed. Also, no controls in cab. I believe the M942 is a stripped chassis.
