    2 piece wheels

Just curious, but why don't you leave them as is? They're easy enough to work with without having to pay someone to do it for you.

Tips to short list HMMWVs up for auction on Gov Planet

I'm writing this as a newbie myself to the whole auction process. I've had other mil vehicles in the past, but they've all be private purchase. I think to be armed with knowledge beforehand will save you grief down the road so I've answered your questions as well as added my .02 cents in...

My Euc cleared :) in record time and no notification from GP

Mike- same thing happened to me. I went to my account on govplanet when I was approaching the 60 day mark since auction. It turns out that it cleared the day before - I actually called CS to confirm what I was seeing. I never did get an email with confirmation - I think it just pays to be...

    92 - M1038 Ignition Issue - Suggestions

Gents - I've been flipping through the TM's and have found that the information is great, but it's not exactly helping me out with diagnosing my particular problem. So I'm hoping that I can get some input from you before going on a wild goose chase and throwing money at parts that might not...

What Is The WIDTH Outside Tire to Outside Tire of a HMMWV??

The demil code for vehicles considered to be armament carriers prevents them from being auctioned. A DRMO friend I have told me that he keeps them to the side of his lot and they're eventually picked up for destruction in Anniston, AL. So how many Armament carriers versus non-armament? I don't...

What Is The WIDTH Outside Tire to Outside Tire of a HMMWV??

It was dark by the time I got home last night, alas - no pics or showoff thread just yet. I know that it seems that there are a lot of complaints about Iron Planet, many of which appear to be legit - but I have to say that my experience was that it was rather painless. If I had a gripe, it...

What Is The WIDTH Outside Tire to Outside Tire of a HMMWV??

I just dragged my M1038 home this afternoon. I used a 7500# rated U-Haul trailer. I fibbed about what I was towing since most here haven't had issues. My truck has BFG Baja's on it and I can tell you that it won't "barely" fit between fenders and actually sat up on the edge with about 3" or so...

    HMMWV Body lift

That's not a newer Humvee or even factory built for that matter. A Google search shows that the vehicle on the right is equipped with an Oshkosh designed Tak-4 driveline and suspension upgrade to restore cargo capacity when equipped with armor and to improve survivability when encountering...

    HMMWV Body lift

If by "improvement" you mean that they had to do it to accommodate the turbo in the 6.5, then yes, lifting the body is an improvement since they need to make sure that it fits correctly. Otherwise, there was no need to lift the body.

    my new technical truck

Agreed - ya might think you want it because it's the most current, but I was at the USASOC Motor Pool at Bragg the other day and even the late uparmored M1152 GMV trucks had the "old" 3-lever switch. That's pretty telling to me.

    Oshkosh wins JLTV Contract.

But are they armored and designed for mine protection?

    M1097A2 Armor Package Type?

I know that there are several armor packages that were made available for the HMMVW beyond the supplemental armor that the Marines had on theirs prior to the GWOT. Since there are different types and levels and tiers of armor packages, I was hoping that someone could identify the type on this...

    Oshkosh wins JLTV Contract.

At $400k per truck, I have my doubts on if it's truly a replacement for the humvee. I can see it replacing it in combat roles, but there is still a use for a lightweight (comparatively speaking) non-armored vehicle for other roles, unless they plan on buying a bunch more LSSV's for that purpose...

    Humvee upkeep question...??

Must be dependent on where you were, when I was in (east coast Marine, CAAP platoon), we just called them "trucks".

    My Recent Chenowth Acquisitions

Actually, there has been quite a bit of progress. I finally have the 3-Seat vehicle completely stripped down to the bare chassis and have been able to get a better look of what needs to be repaired. The support tubing from the seats back needs to be replaced. While the torsion adjustment...

Welcome from Athens, GA. I grew up in Putnam County and my sister lives in Maybrook. I'll be visiting the fam up that way during the holidays.

    My Recent Chenowth Acquisitions

CBear, these were purchased via auction by the guys brother. The brother intended to restore them, then a divorce happened, my contact got them and they had been sitting behind his shop until I got them The DPV is stripped down and the only thing left to remove is the engine and transaxle. I'm...

    My Recent Chenowth Acquisitions

I have always wanted the Chenowth Desert Patrol Vehicle since I was younger and remember seeing the SEALs zipping around 29 Palms with them in the late 90's when they came out to play with us Marines. Finding a legit DPV has proven to be extremely difficult to find. It seems like what comes up...

New Guy From Athens, GA Saying Hello

Thank You for all of the well-wishes everyone. While my own vehicles won't be done, I definitely want to go to check everything out. I can already tell that there are other MV's that I want, but I might as well take on one project at a time - there's no sense in making the entire front of my...
