Picture of US forest service green CUCVs

I have a few you can check out here! https://steelsoldiers.com/threads/cucv-m1008-build.207156/ The paint is a little rough so eventually I'll be repainting it, most likely will go back to OD green but for now it'll do

    CUCV M1008 Build

I haven’t done much over the winter to the m1008 but recently took a break from my other projects to work on the truck to get it back on the road for spring. Started with the basics of an oil change and grease, and swapped a new fuel filter cartridge in as well. Last time I got the truck...

6.2 Turbo with 6.5 Parts - Build and Questions Thread

I got the fender liners from LMC. Price with shipping wasn’t too bad. Quality seems comparable to OEM, they’re sturdy.

6.2 Turbo with 6.5 Parts - Build and Questions Thread

Good luck! Hopefully the IP/injectors helps your mpg, the only time I got that bad of mileage was when I first got my m1008 but it got alot better after a few hundred miles of hard use. Especially since your compression is good it seems like the injection system is tired. My only other...

My M1008 was in the WV Forest Service but it’s red now and as far as I can tell from small areas I’ve stripped was either olive drab or camo beforehand.

    Oil Pressure Light/Sender

I went on rock auto to see if any of the new senders specified the “on” pressure. The AC Delco one says 4 psi. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/chevrolet,1984,k30+pickup,6.2l+379cid+v8+diesel,1053021,electrical-switch+&+relay,oil+pressure+sender+/+switch,4588

    Oil Pressure Light/Sender

I came across a similar issue but with my electronic gauge. The answer I got at the time was the light is supposed to come on at 8-12 psi. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/oil-pressure-gauge-location.216285/ My electronic gauge still seems finicky even after changing the sender so I still...

Who makes the best aftermarket Air conditioner for M 1008?

Unfortunately I’m not sure anybody sells a complete ready to go kit for cucvs anymore, Nostalgic air has been out of stock for the cucv kit for a while now. The problem comes when trying to mount the compressor and keep both alternators as I don’t believe a 24v squarebody setup is made anymore...

Manual transmission swap and stock locker road manners

I don't have a definitive answer regarding the locker with the nv4500 other than I've seen folks mention it occurring on here a few times. But if you're able to post a swap thread for your trans swap I (and I'm sure others) would be interested in reading it!

Hillbilly Wizard vs DCP Pump Rebuild, and Injectors

I purchased my 4911 IP pump from Diesel Care for what ended up as a 6.5 GEP in my truck. I originally was doing what you’re doing and turboing the 6.2 but encountered issues and decided to get the 6.5. I did order the “premium” version, but when I called them they were vague about the...

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

I'm pretty sure one of the first things I did after purchasing my m1008 was removing that diode as my horn would blow constantly like yours.

    M1031 CUCV Alternator

I would double check to confirm it is the diagnostic circuit (which I'm pretty sure it is) but if so you can remove/cap it. I removed the entire diagnostic circuit from my m1008.

what to do with Vacuum pump for NV4500 swap

The lower part of the assembly drives the oil pump. You can either pull the guts of the vacuum system out and seal it up or install one of these. Which is what I did when I swapped to a 700R4 which doesn't need vacuum. https://www.udgmtruck.com/6250103 Or if you want to run a tach they also...

    Fuse/Relay Block Recommendations

Those Blue Sea ones and I also found Painless Performance Products ones that seem to be pretty nice. Painless performance says they’re made in USA too. I’ll have to check/plan how many circuits I want to run off them and get the fuse block(s that fits best. There are a few that are combo units...

    Fuse/Relay Block Recommendations

That sounds like a good idea, yeah I should be able to find a spot under the dash in that area. Do you happen to recall what brand/type of fuse blocks you used?

    Fuse/Relay Block Recommendations

Over the course of my M1008 ownership, I've added a few additional electrical circuits for items such as radio, trailer brake controller, fuel filter heater, fuel pump, etc. Depending on load/need these were typically wired to their own relay or to the 12V block near the glow plug relay with...

    Running boards/ nerf bars

Just keep in mind that the saddle fuel tank will be in the way for many of them. I ordered a set off rock auto which mounted to the rocker panels but they didn’t work. I forgot the brand but looking now they don’t sell that one anymore so maybe the listened to my return complaint that they...

    Center mount Turbo M1008

Thanks for the info. I have a side mount turbo’d 6.5 so exhaust wise it should be set there. Those Donaldson filter assemblies actually seem reasonably priced too. Is there a specific orientation they have to be or can it be rotated 90 degrees?
