    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

I've seen the bulkhead transmission harness connector incorrectly pinned from the factory - either the truck came that way or the ladies at the Motorpool swapped in a replacement harness that was pinned incorrectly. Also apparently that area is prone to wire insulation degradation and...

    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

I'm not following how the resistance could be *lower* measured through the harness versus directly at the solenoid. The wiring should not be able to lower the resistance reading. And resistance measurements (with a DMM for example) are not really appropriate for measuring the circuit resistance...

LMTV M1078A1r Brake Line Routing in Cab

You'll want to read my thread and then have a think about where you want to go next - it has some information you might find useful and there are pics with the bulkhead fittings labeled. Trust me YOU WANT to do what I did...

    Getting LMTV from Hawaii

I was 52D (91D now), but attached to Motorpool so most time was spent on trucks. 62A..... Just went through the Hospice experience with my mom. Hats off to your sir! I can't imagine the things you have seen. Thank you for what you do. The high pinion appears to just be a different third member...

    Getting LMTV from Hawaii

And not even any good reason for it! The truck runs! Idiots the lot of them..... But also they don't give a fast flying fart about breaking Uncle Sam's discarded trash and know they will never be accountable to the buyer so....... Assume NOTHING..... I would be so nervous leaving all this in the...

    Getting LMTV from Hawaii

    Getting LMTV from Hawaii

The JUNK I worked on for the Hawaiian National Guard was so rusted I certainly wouldn't want to own it. Only place I have trained where we were ROUTINELY changing HMMWV hydraulic brake hard lines. Even with the silicone brake fluid they were rotting out. Had a couple trash cans FULL of rusted...

    Transfer case help….M1078 2001

No pressure at the test port either means the solenoid is bad or it's not being activated correctly. (Or you really don't have pressure but since the truck drives that seems unlikely). The small movement you are seeing could be the "peak" from the peak and hold PWM signal from the TCU and the...

Who are the experts on the Air compressor

No...... I *bought* one for $160 (free shipping!) off ebay! You have to be watching for those deals..... Here's one - this seller usually accepts make offers I've noticed: https://www.ebay.com/itm/322568821025

Who are the experts on the Air compressor

Mine was worse - punched a hole in a piston. Ebay, surplus channels and surplus truck/parts dealers, Napa, FleetPride, etc. I got a good used compressor for $160 on ebay and rebuilt the head and then rebuilt my original head to carry for a spare. It's all off-the-shelf Haldex parts. These...

    m1078a1 air compressor help

There's already a thread going about that compressor issue and others. They eat exhaust valves at a furious rate: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/who-are-the-experts-on-the-air-compressor.220678/ That's the head that you have a hole in. And that compressor is toast. You need a...

    M1078A1 Battery Disconnect Relay Cycling

Probably THE two biggest pieces of advice for a new FMTV owner: 1. Good batteries - charge and test individually/disconnected from the truck. 2. Clean every ground, and all the major power distribution points. Then CHECK the voltage drop from the from battery negative to chassis grounds, cab...

    Testing Cat 3116 injectors

Yep - that's how I was instructed to test them in school - late 90's US Army Power Generation Systems - we still had a lot of 15/30/60k generators with mechanical injection. Manual lever pump and a graduated cylinder.

    M1078 A1 transfer case

Correct. My 2008 doesn't have the newest one either - our serial numbers are too low. But always check the serial number to make sure the military didn't swap out the transmission or something.

    LMTV Conversion to 12V

You're grave-digging. Not likely to get any reply to a thread from 5 years ago. And in any case the availability and best option shifts regularly depending on when you ask and what's available. There's tons of information out there about alternator alternatives. It depends on which engine you...

    Testing Cat 3116 injectors

Agreed. 15-20 seconds is nothing. My 2008 C7 will roll coal under load when cold. The 370 HP map might have a little to do with it, but yeah - when REALLY cold they will smoke on startup. Remember these are non-emissions engines so there's no DPF, and on your 3116 there's no catalytic...

    Air Drain Valves

Have considered that also. Just too busy and don't need that many.

    Air Drain Valves

It is the same part exactly. It requires no modifications. I've installed them as well as just using the diaphragm out of them. I'm assuming the part number difference is materials, coatings, components suppliers, etc. Or it might just be that the government version has a different part number...

    Air Drain Valves

IDK where the actual f*** you fellas are buying these for $200 - $250, but they are $79 (including shipping): https://www.finditparts.com/products/8710926/haldex-314013005 🙄 🤷‍♂️ And sure the non-adjustable is still cheaper - but you are talking about using two.... so now were down to $30 and...

    Battery Box Latch Easy Fix?

Yeah but they never cared enough to redesign it.... 1993 to 2021 are all the same damn loose fitting latch. It's willful at this point when it's not been addressed for 28 years. Lowest bidder designed it. Another lowest bidder manufactured it..... and lets face it - the lowest common...
