@kloppk R13 & R12 are getting the same, elevated voltage readings as I posted above.
So, this is making me think there is an issue with the CT or the wire trail going through CT3 that is making the CT read higher?
If I recall, the TM test for the CT in the machine is a simple continuity test &...
I don't want to bury my specific issue in this thread, so I started my own here if you'd like to follow;
https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-803a-overload-fault-troubleshooting.219463/
Years back when I first joined the forum, I think you said this. It stuck & I have found it to be a good SOP. It can be annoying when you are on your 4th or 5th time of going through the 6hr load test. But, after getting my first unit through it & considering it done, I went 4 years with no...
Okay, thank you.
I don't know why I didn't check it. I must have read incorrectly in another post where you talked about this and thought only the first 3 were for each leg. This is what happens when brain fatigue sets in!
Running doesn't mean working. But, it's half the battle. If you are new to these, a good rule of thumb to go buy is if it will pass a 6 hour 100% load test without a single fault or issue, then it is good. At least that is how I base "rebuilding" them. Any gremlin that a machine will have...
I did not take a measurement of R13. Good catch. Your diagram shows this & I kind of ignored it for some reason.
I will have to pull the trailer back up to the shop & set the load bank up again to test. This afternoon I moved onto my M4K with about the same results as the generator. Should have...
Added a few things to my original post that I forgot to put in there.
Also, After letting the contact cleaner dry & touching/tracing each wire to confirm it is in the proper place, no luck. I also unbolted to CT to make sure I could get a good look at the side of the S8 & some of those...
The load has nothing to do with it. It is a fault in the way it is sensing. The generator is working fine.
If you set S6 for 3 phase, it is monitoring for such, it is not setting the generator to make 3 phase power. You set the way the generator makes power with S8. You set how the generator...
Everyone,
I know there are a few threads on this already. Have read through them & learned from them. Used that & have troubleshooted, but am still a but stumped. My situation is a little different, so I will try to consolidate what I have done as much as possible so that I can get some...
Great thread. Troubleshooting a like new MEP 803A that looks/runs otherwise perfect. Opens contactor on overload. Will run all day with Battle Short on. I didn't realize the switchs need to be soaked, I only lightly cleaned. Going to try again.
That's about the going fee via the various state level programs for federal surplus that goes to eligible parties. You probably will need to spend a little time with it like them all, but none the less if you need a good unit, you'll be happy.
ATF is my go-to! Glad you got going.
The well nut doesn't need to be to tight. That is a great idea with the seal washer like the CTIS banko bolt. I may actually add these to the kit to this if you are saying it works better in some applications. I have installed a lot of these without issue...
Don't overthink it. Even though the injection pump is a very precise piece of equipment, as long as you don't bang it up, it is fairly simple. I use ATF. Take it apart, let is soak for a few hours or overnight. Then, use something like a toothbrush & brake cleaner. Soak again. Then, reassemble...
Everyone,
Finally got myself one of the new generation AMMPS MEP 1040 generators.
Is marked as a "parts" unit that didn't power or anything when slave cable was hooked up.
All I've done is look at it & get it unloaded. Took the batteries out & collected the loose stuff inside...
