Here are some pictures from my older son's motor pool on Camp Pendleton a few years ago. M11400 is the UIC for 1st CEB (combat engineers)
The side marking is in the most common place on Humvees.
When I referred to your stencils as "non-standard", the Humvee and M1008 show what "standard" USMC...
Chemical unit, judging by the beakers, looks like a dragon holding them. Possibly the Army 2nd or 22nd Chemical Battalion? Their crests have a dragon.
The only reason I know those two is that they were on Fort Hood, where I used to consult for the Army. (I think 22nd was actually based at Fort...
USMC 606363 is the serial number and VIN for your vehicle. On your truck these have been applied with non-standard stencils.
The marking on the front right of your hood is a partial Embarkation Code
There should be a C/C at the top, which stands for Condition Code, but I can't read what is...
I imagine it was a typo, but a slight correction just in case it leads a newbie astray- Douglas connectors are the metal shell ones, Packards are the rubber ones. ;)
Cheers
That is very true!
I got the smaller one from a guy in Indiana for pretty cheap, the big one came out of a farmer's field near Fort Hood, paid $200 for that one.
The "small" one now has an S788 on it, the bigger one I added Humvee fenders and a diamond plate deck to haul my M274 (Mule) on it...
The two version I have are 5th wheel. Both were designed as shelter carriers for the Humvee, but I use my M1028A2 to pull them.
The third picture is the frame and 5th wheel for a Humvee, by the time the trailer came to me, that part was long gone! Picture 4 is from the internet showing a...
The tub for the M416 is a single piece unit, four side and the floor. I think someone was making reproductions, but I last saw them a few years ago, don't know if they are still around.
As rare as M762s are getting, perhaps sell/trade it to another collector and buy an M416?
Cheers
Very nice truck! What are your plans for it colourwise?
I'm intrigued by the 22mpg, does it have an overdrive transmission in it?
One thing to replace, if you still have it installed, is the old coffin box fuel filter. They can cause problems and the filters themselves are getting hard to...
She's about ready to float again, looking forward to seeing that.
Miggins, if you can arrange for me to have just one of those from your picture, even just a small one, I'll go get it and nominate it!
Cheers
A couple of folks on here have done that over the years.
I remember one bobbed deuce with a utility bed that looked particularly cool, though I don't recall the notches being off-center.
Edit - Found some pictures. I don't recall whose truck it is/was. He doubled up the frame in the back for...
Santa Fe is on the south side of Houston, toward Galveston. ;)
Txsrooster, the pioneer tool rack is the same as on M35s and all sorts of other vehicles, they are easy to come by.
Cheers
For 12v power in the cab, that is only on when the ignition is on, you can plug into either of the sockets in the fuse box indicated by the white arrows.
You'll have to add an in-line fuse as those sockets are not fused.
Someone else will have to advise on getting power to the trailer. ;)
Cheers
Another common problem with these old trucks.
It could be that your hinges have sagged over time and need to be adjusted (loosen bolts, adjust, tighten).
Or one of the most likely culprits is the bushing on the striker on the door frame. Easiest fix is to take a section of PEX about 3/4"...
