    M1008 Starter problems

Hey Thanks for that [thumbzup] And yes I agree, I think your's is stock. Mine is a hack job. Which is what is causing my squealing. Something isn't lining up right with the belt, or it is the bearings in the alternator even though they still "feel" ok.

    M1008 Starter problems

Went back over to the barn to look at that upper bracket again, took a couple photos. Its obviously been hacked up. The bracket on my truck where they welded it, the nose is not flat but instead "dips" down. Tried to find some photos online of this bracket, or at least of this side of the...

    M1008 Starter problems

I just thought about this when I was walking back over from the barn... What if this is not a 27si alternator at all? I know its an aftermarket, so what if they just took the original alternator into a parts store and found one that was "close enough"? :shrugs: If so, it would make sense why...

    M1008 Starter problems

something about how this alternator was assembled just doesn't seem right to me. Maybe im wrong ,but it would seem like there should be a bushing on the front and rear shaft where they contact the bearing surfaces. rear had no bushing. and front had one but only on outside front housing. Also...

    M1008 Starter problems

took alt apart, every looks fairly clean. checked for play in front sealed bearing and resr needle bearing. they seem to roll smoothly and I can't feel any play just rolling them by hand. the rear needle bearing turns easier than the new one that I found in the alt rebuild kits I found the other...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

yeah not too much damage for being able to straight up replace it all. about $225 for tank, sending unit, straps, and roll of rubber isolators to go between straps and tank. I was surprised to get a tank for that price, glad I found it on Summit with free shipping

    M1008 Starter problems

hey all, while I'm waiting on belts and fuel sending etc which still won't be in until tuesday. I thought I'd go ahead and look at the passenger's side alternator. when I started unbolting it, I was looking at the belt. it looks like it's running true, but the bottom alternator bracket sure...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Well, kept going back and forth on just ordering a sending unit or get it all... and I ended up ordering all of it. I put a fuel sending unit, dorman tank, and dorman straps in the cart on Rock Auto, and it was going to be $211. BUT it was showing there was some sort of delay on the fuel sending...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Been looking at the two SPECTRA sending units that Rock Auto lists for this truck ➡ One is the FG05K that you posted adf5565 ➡ And the other is the FG05L that ezgn posted The only real differences between them besides the 'color', is the direction of the ports verses the direction of the...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Rock Auto is a good company too. Don't know why I didn't think to check them to see what they had listed. Thanks for the info and part #'s [thumbzup] EDIT: Will keep that in mind about the filler neck and hose.

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Ok, I was able to get the truck turned around backed into my garage and get underneith of it to look at the tank. I found the ground wire going to the fram, it wasn't corroded and the connection was strong. So I don't think its the ground wire, but I can not see anything on the top side of the...

    M1008 Starter problems

I have a 3 set of diamond stones from Smiths, they've been pretty good. I also have a black 8000 grit? 🤔 stone, and a leather strop that I made with polishing compounds. I don't use the black stone or the strop on anything but one knife really. This Cold Steel sees too much daily use to stay...

    M1008 Starter problems

rofl spotted my EDC knife. Been a good one, seen a lot of use over the past 12 years or so, I think thats how long its been since I bought it. I lost it for about a year once, and a month or so just recently... found it in the truck this last time. But it always turns back up. And yeah I need to...

    M1008 Starter problems

ok, here is the update. I started the truck up this morning to pull it back into my garage and it didn't start on the first try. Second try it did start but cylinders were hitting hard and had a good amount of white smoke blowing out the tailpipes, especially on drivers side. I gave it some gas...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Now that sounds like a way that I could do this by myself :) The fuel hose cheat also sounds like a good idea. They probably need replaced anyway, as they were the one "rubber parts" that I didn't replace when I first got the truck. Thanks for the Tips [thumbzup]

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Thanks for the info [thumbzup] That is interesting, as I was thinking that there might be some type of connection issue causing more resistance... or loss of resistance? As I'm guessing that is basically the way the sending unit operates to send the electrical signal to the fuel gauge. I'll...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Thanks for the link. Sliding the bed back sounds better than dropping the tank, especially since its full. But it might be harder to do since I have this "camper" shell on my truck. Its pretty heavy and I don't have anyone to help me. Took me and 3 other guys when I put it on the bed back 10 or...
