    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

spoke with Mark at Oregon Fuel Injection, he told me that this pump number (DB2829-4521) was designed to be able to also run jet fuel as well as Diesel besides some other fuel mixes. However, because it was designed to run jet fuel, it was built with hardened parts, which he said reduces its...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Since the Delphi turned out to be rebuilt like everyone elses, I started looking at Oregon Fuel Injection since it seems a lot of people here have used them with good success. Was also looking at Huckstorf Diesel, which seems like a good company, but haven't found much reviews about them. The...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Found what I thought was a brand new Delphi IP ( #EX631058 ) on Amazon, as it had no core charge. But from what I've found else where, its apparently a rebuilt unit. It looks like the exact same pump, and its listed to fit GMC 82' - 86' 6.2l engine. Its $590 which is still expensive, but...

Was hoping that it wasn't the IP, but thats what I figured was wrong. Guess I'm going to have to find a good rebuilt one.

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Ok... its been a few months, been really busy these past several months, and been working on... everything it seems  anyway, finally got the truck in the garage about a week ago, removed intake, water pump, timing cover etc etc and found what happened this last time the truck died. It...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

thought I would post a little update... or the final update as it were... Truck had been running fine... got all the little "kinks" with the vacuum lines, and other little things sorted out. Got the backup camera and some other little things fixed inside the cab as well. have been driving...

Is there any other Paint Recommended besides Behr?

does it hold up well? it would probably be easier to paint in cooler weather that we're having now. Still got some warm days here and there, wouldn't take as long to dry or cure I guess.

Is there any other Paint Recommended besides Behr?

Hey All, back about 6 years ago, my dad and I painted our m1008 with behr olive green paint mixed from the paint codes listed here on SS. Been really satisfied with it, after 6 years of sitting in the sun and etc, it has faded a little bit. But other than that, it has held up great. Now we're...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Dexron VI does have a little lower viscosity, but from what others here have said it should actually increase fuel milage... if it's enough of an increase to actually be noticeable I kind of doubt it personally. As I said in my last post, there are multiple guys here on SS who have been using...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

There's a bunch of guys on here who use dexron VI without any issues. It is supposed to be fully compatible with dex III applications. Its also a fully synthetic fluid as well, so it shouldn't break down as quickly. And I already had a case of it here.

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Yeah, I was going to try that too. Hadn't found what you had to do to adjust it, but was going to search about it. Thanks Ken for the info. I'll try that tomorrow. None of these lines, the vac pump, or either module was hooked up before, so who knows. If that doesn't work, then I found a new...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Ok, well, dropped the transmission pan today. And you were right, no drain plug. I could have sworn that I had seen one on it before... :shrugs: Anyway, pan was clean. There was a "doughnut" magnet about 2 1/2" across in the bottom of the pan. It had a layer of "sludge" on it, which felt...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

You can't even hardly get a bill for less than $20 if two people go to a fast food restaurant anymore... let alone a truck service bill. Anyway, I'll drop the pan, look it over, see if I can see any seen any metal shavings or anything. Change the filter and fluid... which only changes out about...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

hummm..... should've read that manual closer... guess I'm used to newer vehicles which have longer service changes on the trans fluid. And yeah, I guess I was mostly thinking about the milage too. I'm usually pretty good about keeping up with stuff like that, most of the time even changing...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Hummm.... what happened to the last update I posted a few weeks ago...? Well, what I thought I posted before, was that the new GP's worked! No More Smoke! [thumbzup] The Truck has been running good, the only other issue I had was the new temp sensor for the idiot light died after less than 2...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Ok all, I know its been a few days, just been busy but here's a quick update As per your all's suggestion, I went to pull the glow plugs last week, and found that the far back wire had come off the plug... so I figured well maybe that was my only issue, so I put the wire back on and thought I...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Hum, ok hadn't thought of "testing" gp's that way, but that should work just fine. Any specific amp setting matter much? 200 amp jump start? 35 amp? And yeah if the tip isn't getting hot, the rest of the plug doesn't even matter, as basically only the tip is actually exposed to the cylinder...
