Well not quite as epic as the boys going from AL to Seattle but I helped Green_Gator out of Tampa recover a deuce at Camp Bullis here in San Antonio today. I had checked it out last week to make sure it looked fit enought to make it 1200 miles from here to Tampa and everything seemed pretty...
What are the major differences between the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton M1009? The TMs just call all M1009s 3/4 ton. That's what I was hoping for but when I decoded my VIN it comes out as a 1/2 ton.
My first M1009 was dropped off last night and to say I was excited would put things mildly. I was having some anxiety attacks as the delivery date was unavoidably delayed but the wait was worth it.
The transport company (Buckner - I highly recommend them) rolled in right around 7pm so...
Sumoman ran afoul of the moderators (for good reason so don't flame me) while offering some assistance to SS members regarding auctions. Someone suggested starting another thread that wasn't quite as sensitive but I haven't noticed one yet so here goes.
If anyone needs a preview, inspection...
Hate to see it happen but I was surfing GL and saw a stack of HEMTT cabs on one lot and a bunch of beds on the other. The listing has "mutilation required" so that will be the end of that.
Anyone notice some of the GL sites are throwing 2 M101's together in the same lot? I just started looking for one so I don't know if this has been a common practice or not.
I'm going to need a 1009 moved from Redstone to San Antonio, TX as soon as the EUC clears (6 weeks with my luck) and just wanted to get a jump on ballpark figure to move it. Runs so should be easy to load.
I just made high bid on my first 1009. Now comes the first experience with an EUC, SF-97, picking up a vehicle on post...
So I don't get flamed for :nopics
I added the lame GL picture.
Okay I've got 2 VINs on my M37. The dash plate VIN is 80260652. The VIN on the frame is 2661186749. One 8 digit VIN and one 10 digit VIN. I checked the G741 site registry and both types are listed on owners vehicles in different eras so I'm a tad confused.
The frame appears to be an early...
I looked at 2 M37 parts trucks last week. I'm saddened by the fact they were both unusable. One was so rusted that the bed had seperated on both sides by about a foot. It was parked in a heavily wooded area so was full of wet, rotting leaves. The second one made me want to castrate someone...
Well actually in my head lights. None of the lights on my new M37 are working so I started at the front. Pulled the HL rings off and the glass fell out of both HLs. Then I pulled the reflector part of the bulb out and found that the inside of the HL housings were packed with yellow jacket...
What's the correct nomenclature for an '86 G30 with maintenance box and generator? The Wiki post shows the Marine Corp version as an M1010 but what would the Army/AF version be? And what would the typical accesories load (fire ext, tools, etc) look like? I'm watching a couple in Texarcana...
Anyone have experience with pallitized items at Ft. Sam? Do they have a forklift and help load? I've got about 20 pallets and need to get them into a Uhaul truck.
Just bought a '53 M37 off eBay. Anybody have a transport company they can suggest? eBay recommends DAS but their specialty vehicle dept isn't open on weekends. What do you think the reasonable charge should be from PA to TX?
