They are standard on many US military vehicles, though not usually CUCVs except Marine ones, as mentioned above.
Here is one on the back of an M37 that shows how the tools are arranged. they are held in place by straps.
Straps are easily found from many sellers, including at least a couple...
If I remember correctly, that flying sequence is from a Steve McQueen movie called The Warlover, from the early 1960s (when B-17s were still plentiful, and not considered valuable!).
Cheers
My first experience with an A-10 entailed low flying, and was during a BnFx (Battalion Field Exercise) on Fort Hood. We Marines had flown in via C-130 from Camp Pendleton to play with the Army.
As a machine gunner, I was dug in in a fighting position just below the military crest of a hill...
Since you asked, from my perspective I'd encourage restoring it as a military trailer.
The supply of M416s is finite, and large numbers are already converted beyond recognition, thus lost to the current and future MV collector community.
That said, it is yours and what you do with it is...
This is another competition where I struggled to pick just one. All have their merits, all deserved to be voted for, none were easily dismissable.
One is far enough ahead to have the race in the bag, so I finally cast a vote among those in competition for second place.
Well done all!
Cheers
We've used a couple of MKT's at events for many years, one was Mkcoen's, the other is jeepJeep's (but lives at my place). "We" being LoneStar-MVPA, our local Central Texas truck club.
Morning chow is usually breakfast tacos (eggs, sausage, bacon and potatoes rolled in flour tortillas).
Lunch...
This is the one on my M109. I have them on several vehicles (2.5 and 5 ton), this is the only one installed on the passenger side.
All the others are on the drivers side.
All installations were done by the military.
Don't forget to pin it in the up/down position! If you forget when its...
As stated above, the M101 trailer is an M116 chassis with a cargo bed. The trailer may have either M101 or M116 on the data plate.
And yes, the early ones were designed to operate with the M37 and use the same wheels/tires.
The manual you want is TM 9-2330-202-14&P
It is in the Trailer...
I knew someone on here had done a pattern for the M886.
https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/m886-camouflage-patern.35924/
He used the pattern for the M880 to get the Dodge parts of the pattern, and extrapolated the box pattern from the M725 ambulance.
Comparing them to M886 pictures on the...
My trucks have been through much higher winds with the covers on and came to no harm. That said, if you can take it down, why not? Better safe than sorry!
Cheers
That's interesting. That is definitely not how the fenders on my truck are done, nor any of the others I have seen. My fenders are permanently mounted tight to the bed and have the seam filled, no rubber gasket.
My understanding is that all the kits were provided by GM, and were all the same...
NG0LC2 is the US Army registration for that vehicle.
The camouflage is MERDEC Winter Verdant
Green 34079
Field Drab (brown) 30118
Sand 30277
Black 37038
Look in the manuals forum for TB 43-0147, which is the manual for MERDEC (often called 4-colour) camo.
There is an official pattern for the...
